Visits Details
26 Jan 2019 (Philip Pirrip)
Last knockings evening visit until midnight close. Anyone who has this as a local is a lucky person.
Wiper and True - Equanimity | 3.80 | | A bitter style beer with just a bit more citrus than I like |
Wild Beer Co. - Bibble | 4.20 | Not Tried
Siren Craft - Broken Dream Breakfast Stout | 6.50 | Not Tried | The nightcap I should have wanted if I had seen it earlier on the pumpclips at the other end of the bar. Ho hum |
Fallen - Chew Chew | 6.00 | Not Tried
Magic Rock - Conjurer | 3.50 | Not Tried | Definitely the spelling on the pump clip |
17 Jan 2019 (ChrisE)
A first visit for me, and one to do again sometime. A good pub with a good selection of cask ales all currently priced at £3 per pint.
Burning Sky - Porter | 4.80 | | Superb, I had two of these. |
Fyne - Jarl | 3.80 | Not Tried
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Hirundo | 4.50 | Not Tried
Siren Craft - Broken Dream Breakfast Stout | 6.50 | Not Tried
Adnams - Tally-Ho | 7.20 | Not Tried | I did not try this, but others in my group who could not resist Tally Ho at £3 per pint said it was superb. |
Siren Craft - Coldblooded Cold-Steeped Porter | 5.00 | Not Tried
26 Oct 2018 (Philip Pirrip)
Late evening visit until midnight close.
Magic Rock - Hat-Trick | 3.70 | | Full stop 5* no arguments. Credit to brewery and the pub. Had me sucking and licking my lips and chewing a wasp all the way through a pint and a half |
Siren Craft - Half Mast QIPA | 2.80 | Not Tried
Siren Craft - Suspended in Blanc | 4.00 | Not Tried
Pomona Island - Stout | 4.50 | Not Tried | Ran out as I ordered |
North - Piñata | 4.50 | Not Tried
22 Sep 2018 (Philip Pirrip)

Bristol Beer Factory - Negroni | 4.60 | | Blood orange and juniper infused, nice autumnal feel |

01 Aug 2018 (Philip Pirrip)
Last knockings visit until 11pm close. The landlady and I agreed that the taste of Oakham Citra has changed to be far too rounded, losing its clean Citra edge (change of hop supplier or recipe?).
Siren Craft - Broken Dream Breakfast Stout | 6.50 | | Could have been cooler, perhaps first out for a while. Full bodied delight as always though |
Oakham - Citra | 4.20 | Not Tried | Tasters only for debating purposes! |
Saltaire - Galaxy Pale Ale | 5.00 | Not Tried | Ran out |
Adnams - Mosaic Pale Ale | 4.10 | Not Tried
Howling Hops (Brewed at Hackney Wick) - Pale Ale No. 2 | 3.80 | Not Tried
21 Jul 2018 (Philip Pirrip)
Latish evening visit, A gem of a place for both cask and keg beer lovers.
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Beerkeepers | 5.30 | | Everything just right, temperature, taste balance, the lot. A superb beer in peak condition |
Tiny Rebel - Cherry Bomb | 5.00 | | A cherry sour that could easily strip the tongue. Would have been better to have been cooler (suspect first out for a while). I chased it with the Beerkeepers as intriguing opposites |
Bristol Beer Factory - Nova | 3.80 | Not Tried
Siren Craft - Yu Lu | 3.60 | Not Tried
Howling Hops (Brewed at Hackney Wick) - Chocolate Stout | 5.00 | Not Tried
Siren Craft - Suspended in Enigma | 4.00 | Not Tried
05 Sep 2017 (Magnus Greel)
Mid evening and fairly quiet. My last pub today on the recommendation of P&B luminary Phillip Pirrip I can see why at £1.50 a half.
Marble - Pint (was 3.9%) | 3.40 | | Earthy malty and flavoursome. Perfect finish for the evening. |
Siren Craft - Liquid Mistress Red IPA | 5.80 | Not Tried
Fallen - Chew Chew | 6.00 | Not Tried
15 Aug 2017 (Stephen Harris)
A very impressive pub, where 50 or 60 Leyton Orient supporters had gathered ahead of tonight’s match at Bromley FC. Many of my real ale drinking friends were marvelling at the interesting range of keg and key-keg beers and as a group we spent way too much money on them when we should have focussed on the £3 a pint cask beers.
Marble - Table Beer | 2.70 | | Another very good low-strength beer – I’m really getting a taste for them. The only fault here was over-chilling. |
Five Points - Agadoo | 6.50 | | The second of the two London Beer City special brews – this one representing north London and brewed collaboratively with Pressure Drop and One Mile End. |
Westbrook - Key Lime Pie Gose | 4.00 | | From a keg. Lime flavour way over the top to the point that this was barely recognisable as beer. |
Dark Star - Hophead was 3.8% (some has also been brewed by Fuller's) | 3.40 | Not Tried
Wild Beer Co. - Bibble | 4.20 | Not Tried
Gun - Parabellum Milk Stout | 4.10 | Not Tried
06 Jun 2017 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening visit until 11pm close. Had heard very good things about this place and they were all true. Really knowledgeable manager and all real ales fixed at £3 a pint. Running to the same ethos as Stormbird in Camberwell.
Pig & Porter - Red Spider Rye | 4.80
Marble - Pint (was 3.9%) | 3.40 | | Full of flavour but honestly too chilled |
Dark Star - Hophead was 3.8% (some has also been brewed by Fuller's) | 3.40 | Not Tried
Salopian - Darwin's Origin | 4.30 | Not Tried
Hawkshead - Dry Stone Stout | 4.50 | Not Tried
