First Ramsgate pub on the crawl and the best. I was the first one in at 12.00 and I sat at the bar chatting with Andy the landlord about pubs. A fair sprinkling of locals arrived over the next hour talking about horse racing and the freezing cold weather. Great proper pub with lots of activity and Gadd's beers in bottle to take home (so I did, 2 bottles of the 2007 No Tomorrow IPA)
| Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 7 | 3.80 | | Flavoursome session bitter. Good fullish mouthfeel, good pale malts and then a drying finish. Good flavour and just the right balance for a 3.8% session bitter. |
| Elgood's - Barleymead | 4.80 | Not Tried | |
| Brains - Top Notch | 4.40 | Not Tried | |

The ladies darts team were in, so it was never going to be a quiet one. We weren't very impressed with the beer so only had the one unfortunately.
| Brains - Top Notch | 4.40 | | I wasn't overkeen on this one, malty and quite bitter. Very boring pint. Meh describes it well I think. |

Just had 20 minutes to sprae while waiting for the bus, popped in for a very swift half. Very busy, with very little room to move. Eddie was in, I was really happy when I saw the Dark Conspiracy on.
| Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Dark Conspiracy | 4.90 | | Black, american style winter warmer. Used to be known as 'Fall Over' but apparently that promoted irresponsible drinking so Eddie had to change it. Really nice beer, sweet and chocolatey with a fair amount of carbonation. I liked it a lot. |

Seems to be a sunday tradition to come here now. Had the usual meat raffle on. A good laugh as always.
| Oakham - Bishops Farewell | 4.60 | | What a beer! Extremely hoppy, sweet with a little caramel. Oakham are quickly becoming one of my favourite breweries. |

| Sharp's - Doom Bar | 4.00 | Not Tried | |

Popped in for the usual sunday afternoon session. Usual bunch of locals, and the meat raffle. Unfortunately the beer was a bit lacklustre so we moved on after only one.
| Wadworth - Malt and Hops | 4.40 | | What an original name for a beer. This was bland, a little malt with a fair amount of harshness. Not nice. |

| Brains - SA | 4.20 | Not Tried | |

Another sunday, another visit to the monty. Evening this time though. Very quiet as everywhere is on a sunday evening.
| Wickwar - Cotswold Way | 4.20 | | Overly sweet and quite boring. Not impressed. |

| Sharp's - Doom Bar | 4.00 | Not Tried | |

Eddie was in so we chatted to him briefly then necked our pint and move on again.
| Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Old Pig Ramsgate Brown Ale | 4.80 | | I'd heard mixed things about this so I was intrigued to try it. I was really impressed. Sweet with a strong nutty flavour. Really nice beer. |

In for the lunchtime session. Heaving as it always is on a sunday afternoon. This is probably the best time to visit the monty.
| Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 7 | 3.80 | | This beer seems to be on top form at the moment. Really hoppy with some nice malt. Tasty. |
| Theakston - Grouse Beater | 4.20 | | Extremely odd. It was like drinking custard. I like my beer to taste like beer, not a dessert. Not for me. |
06 Sep 2008 (Blair)
There was a little Thanet Camra social going on tonight. Good to see lots of familiar faces.
| Orkney (Sinclair) - Dark Island | 4.60 | | Lovely pint. Rich silky old ale. Nice chocolate flavour with a slight sourness at the end. Delicious. |
| Sharp's - Doom Bar | 4.00 | | I'll be honest, I'm getting a little bored of this being everywhere at the moment. Can't deny it's a good beer though. |

Jane was meeting a friend in Ramsgate and I'm on holiday this week so I took the opportunity to visit a few old friends (of the pub variety that is). I love the Montefiore Arms. This is my idea of a community pub. At one end there were 2 guys playing darts discussing their children’s GCSE results and at the other the landlord (who was drinking No.7 with a Guinness Top) was playing cards with some regulars. In-between was a chap (who I later chatted to at the Artillery Arms) who was drinking bottled beer. My pint was excellent and served in a proper Gadd’s glass. I was interested to see that the pub sign looked like it had had a run-in with a cannon ball. Great pub – one of my favourite in Kent.
| Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 7 | 3.80 | | Succulent golden beer with a drying grapefruit (hint of pink grapefruit) finish. One of Kent’s best in my opinion. |
| Beartown (latterly part of Manning Brewers) - Bearskinful (aka Premium or SB) | 4.20 | Not Tried | |
