21:30 visit. End of my working week and I headed straight here for some stress relief? Contrary to popular belief, there ARE some other good Real Ale pubs in the County town! Five others in plus a little dog, myself and jovial Alan, made for a good Friday crowd here!

Goacher's - Real Mild Ale3.40ExcellentSpot on.
Goacher's - Fine Light Ale3.70ExcellentTop condition. Two pints devoured...
Goacher's - Crown Imperial Stout4.50ExcellentAgain, spot on. And a Barley Wine to finish here at 23:00 in what was now an empty room.
17 Oct 2012 (Alenomore)
19:15 visit. A change of shift at work today meant this rare chance of an early evening mid-week visit. I "swelled" the number here to 6 upon my arrival! Alan in jovial mood too.

21:00 visit. Back from the bus trip and suitably nourished, time for some last orders...Few in as per normal at this time. Alan in good spirits tonite. I gave the ales the elbow in favour of a bottle of Barley Wine tonite. Inbev have completely ruined what should be a classic English ale. The only thing going for this newer type is it's strength. Tastes far too European/zesty, but, it is still refreshingly good.

Evening visit near closing time. 3 others in - very relaxed chatty atmosphere such a contrast to the frenetic Flower Pot. I found out what courgettes and aubergines were and how to cook them!

The pub is found in Maidstone, Kent, ME14 1EU.

In Wyatt Street, one of three Goacher's tied pubs. Décor has not been updated for some time, but that adds to the joy of this quiet pub. Light, Mild and Stout on regularly. If you like Goacher's, then come here. Also, if you like a quiet pub with no airs or graces that serves well crafted beers then this is your place. The long standing licensee of nearly 37 years (Alan) left in late February 2015 bringing a phase of the pub to an end. Pub closed for a week then re-opened under new tenants, Matt and Gina who were themselves replaced by Alex and Polly in February 2018. The 3 original handpumps have now become 4. Secluded rear garden. Local CAMRA branch Pub of the Year 2016, CAMRA West Kent Pub of the Year 2016, CAMRA Kent Pub of the Year 2016.

We have visited this pub 595 times, seen 11 different beers and tried them all.
