A pleasant couple of hours sitting in the garden with table service and good company. A pity that the neighbours were listening to Heart FM in their garden though. The gents toilets have now been completely refurbished with new flooring, sink basin, paper towels and new sparge pipes.

Busy all evening from 6pm opening time and at times absolutely wedged. It was the annual 1066 Old Ale evening which was started in Alan's days and has become extremely popular. There were two pins on Old Ale on the bar and I doubt whether there was much of it left at the end of the day. Polly provided some excellent free food.

It is nice to spend NYE in a proper pub without music and door control. A good crowd in here tonight and Polly's spread of food was very much appreciated.

Deserved contra-entry, 12:20ish last pint before departing to catch the No 12 bus, new cask of Fine Light just gone on warranted another review.

Arrived just after 10:00 special early opening arranged after the funeral of long standing former landlord Alan Marlow. His popularity was most apparent as it was standing room only here. I managed to purloin a free seat on an occupied table.

One of two Goacher's tied pubs. Decor has not been updated for some time, but that adds to the joy of this quiet pub. Light, Mild and Stout on regularly. If you like Goacher's, then come here. Also, if you like a quiet pub with no airs or graces that serves well crafted beers then this is your place. The long standing licensee of nearly 37 years (Alan) left in late February 2015 bringing a phase of the pub to an end. Pub closed for a week then re-opened under new tenants, Matt and Gina who were themselves replaced by Alex and Polly in February 2018. The 3 original handpumps have now become 4. Local CAMRA branch Pub of the Year 2016, CAMRA West Kent Pub of the Year 2016, CAMRA Kent Pub of the Year 2016.

We have visited this pub 567 times, seen 10 different beers and tried them all.
