Very busy. We sat here; we sat there; we sat everywhere.

Banks's - Young's London Original (was Bitter) - previously brewed in Bedford and at Wychwood3.70PoorCloudy, pale, full of diacetyl and with a hint of vinegar according to Ian. It tasted like Cornish Coaster to be honest. It was poor but some how I quite liked it.

Yes I like this pub, I really must come for more than one pint at a time
BeerABVScoreNotes
Adnams - Southwold Bitter3.70AcceptableBeen a long time since I had this so not sure what it should taste like but it was a perfectly acceptable bitter

Not very busy really so we sat under the window on one of those 2 big tables. I like all the hops on the ceiling here. Ian told me all about previous romantic moments he's had near here.

This was spur of the moment stuff. I was passing and the pub just drew me in. I was powerless. Anyway, it was relaxed and civilised inside the pub. A gent with a blazer and a big white beard was drinking a whiskey whilst a group of chaps were enjoying a few pints. Good pub this.

Quiet for a Saturday lunch, but still a nice relaxed atmosphere. A few people eating at the back. Four beers on, one guest that I tried and the usual suspects.
BeerABVScoreNotes
York (now brewed by and at Black Sheep) - Constantine4.30GoodSomewhere between good and excellent, badged as 3.9%. Copper colour, thin white head, malty, yeasty aroma, but quite good body and a mild bitterness. Could have sunk a few.

One of the nicest pub interiors in Canterbury I always think. There were a few groups of tourist at the rear eating and only 2 blokes at the front talking business. I sat and stared out the window at the building opposite. Good times.

Banks's - Young's London Original (was Bitter) - previously brewed in Bedford and at Wychwood3.70GoodJust what I was after; weakish malt with slightly tangy hops. A good session bitter in other words. Slipped down.

There's an eclectic mix of customers in this pub. There was the ususal group of old boys chewing the fat, a couple of American tourists and a few student types. The manager however, runs a pretty tight ship and when we arrived he was in the process of very politely telling some customer sat the bar to drink up and leave. He seemed to be expressing his homophobic opinions rather too loudly and was upsetting the barmaids (amongst others)!
BeerABVScoreNotes
St Austell - Tribute4.20AcceptableNot bad, a bit flabby perhaps. Some hop bite on the end. Drinkable but tired.

Sat by the window reading The Times, listening to the builders at the next door table who had just finished work.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Fox (Leeds) - Mr Tod4.20AcceptableGold, slight haze, thin beige head. It’s a lightish slightly fruity bitter. Not too exciting.

Decent pub, bit on the touristy side, but a favourite of mine. Sat at bar with hops, fire and candlelight.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Titanic - Anchor4.10Acceptable% Copper thin beige head. OK condition. It’s a decent bitter, good malts and hop, don’t get me wrong, but I’ve drunk execellent beer all day. Decent bitter, some white pepper hop.

A right motley crew of customers in here (which is good), ranging from uni students to a few old men who were the worse for wear. Good atmosphere and this is a Canterbury pub that's worth a visit.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Adnams - Southwold Bitter3.70AcceptableThe beer range here isn't great but this was fine. Standard session ale.
