A very hot and sunny Sunday lunchtime, far too hot to eat a three course Sunday roast dinner, but had one anyway. The pub was busy, and it was good to see four different cask ales on offer.

I had fourteen minutes connection time between buses so I popped to visit the pub's toilets and have a quick pint. This was mid-afternoon and the pub was fairly quiet with one other customer drinking Early Bird, and a couple of girls who ordered an Amaretto with Diet Coke, and a Drambuie with Cranberry Juice.

I left the others at The White Lion to go to the new off licence in Tenterden called Liquid Pleasure which is brilliant for wine and whisky and also sells Old Dairy beer in bottles. Then I met up with them here. It's an ok place to have a pint whilst waiting for your bus to turn up at the stop just outside the pub.

Quite busy in the bar area when I arrived with my wife and brother in law and his wife for a lunchtime meal, as was the restaurant area. It was much busier by the time we left.

Large grand looking pub in the High Street with a large bar and a bright conservatory and a walled garden. Closed for refurbishment, with subsequent reopening in summer 2019.
