Visits Details
15 Jan 2022 (Philip Pirrip)
Fast bus journey got me here with reasonable time for two late pints until close.
| Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter | 4.00 | | Always rare on gravity. Best I have had for a while, probably since last visit here |
| Wylam - Gold | 4.00 | Not Tried | Seems to getting around locally quite a bit at the moment |
20 Dec 2021 (Philip Pirrip)
Late afternoon visit after local chores.
| Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter | 4.00 | | Tempted back by Saturday's pints. Still excellent |
| Kent - Pale | 4.00 | Not Tried | |
18 Dec 2021 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening visit until close. First for yonks and so good to see the cheery team and not too many changes to swallow.
| Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter | 4.00 | | Best I have had for a long time, does gravity dispense work a magic. But why was the 3rd consecutive pint from same cask that much cooler and better balanced than 1 and 2? Hey ho for cask |
| Kent - Pale | 4.00 | Not Tried | |
02 Oct 2021 (Philip Pirrip)
11.15pm and faced with new 11pm closing time. Used to be a good bet for a midnight close but no longer.
20 Sep 2021 (Magnus Greel)
16.00hrs visit I had an hour to kill before the Long Pond opened so I thought I'd pay homage to this ex 'craze pub', an overwhelming experience to which I can only imagine similar emotions shared by folk on a Beatles tour in Liverpool, soaking up the atmosphere in establishments where legends have previously drank.
| Kent - Pale | 4.00 | | Faultless in all aspects. The first pint of this dry fruity nectar didn't touch the sides so had to have another just to appreciate it properly. |
| Dig Brew - Cask Bier | 4.20 | | A taster was enough to discover the blandness of this beer. |
| Kent - Tropic Ale | 4.90 | Not Tried | Sadly taken off as I ordered it |
11 Mar 2020 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening visit until 11pm close. Most customers were kegging or canning.
| Siren Craft - Undercurrent | 4.50 | | In fine fettle. My palate can just about tolerate this level of citrus taste |
| Salopian - Chameleon | 3.80 | Not Tried | |
22 Feb 2020 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening visit until midnight close. Also tried a fizz Boom Cherry Lambic at 4%, if only it was on cask.
| Anspach & Hobday - Janus (collaboration with Neptune) | 4.50 | | A brown ale claimed to be of an American style |
| Kent - KGB or Kent Golding Bitter | 4.10 | Not Tried | |
| Kent - Pale | 4.00 | Not Tried | |
25 Jan 2020 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening visit until midnight. Had hosted a Burns's night supper earlier and the landlady was in a tartan skirt in its honour! Also had a third of Mikkeller (brewed by Lerwig) 12% Beer Geek Fudgesicle at a fiver.
| Moor - Stout | 5.00 | | Nourishing |
| Stewart - [Jack Back] | 3.70 | Not Tried | |
| Gun - Chummy Bluster | 4.40 | Not Tried | |
20 Dec 2019 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening visit until midnight close. Also had a fizz Time & Tide Spratwaffler which was a rather flat lemon juice job.
| Five Points - Railway Porter | 4.80 | | Needed a tad more condition |
| Burning Sky - Plateau (was 3.5%) | 3.40 | Not Tried | |
| Siren Craft - Yu Lu | 3.60 | Not Tried | |
| Harbour - Cornish Bitter | 4.00 | Not Tried | |
22 Nov 2019 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening visit until midnight close. The small log and massive pine cone still exist! Ended with a small dose of Westmalle draught fizz Trappist Dubbel.
| Siren Craft - Broken Dream Breakfast Stout | 6.50 | | Glorious night capper |
| Five Points - XPA | 4.00 | Not Tried | |
| Kirkstall - Break Even | 4.60 | Not Tried | |
