In for a after work leaving do pub full of thirsty Network Rail Employees (Me included)
Brakspear (at Marston's Wychwood then at Banks's) - Organic | 4.00 | | A very refreshing light beer first pint slid down decided to stay with it well until the barrel started to run out several pints later |
B&T (Banks & Taylor's) - Black Dragon Mild | 4.30 | | More like a Dark bitter chocolate liquorish flavour quite a contrast to the Brakspears my taste buds may have benn affected by the amount of the previous beer I had drunk |

Early evening and I can't believe that this place has some good beer at last. Plenty of guests and 2 Kent micros in Hopdaemon and Nelson.
Nelson - Spanker | 4.20 | | Copper colour with lasting beige head. Rather a lovely biscuity bitter. Good malty fruit too. Excellent yeast aroma. Like a digestive biscuit with red berry fruit jam on. Excellent dry finish. This brewery is getting better. |
Cotleigh - Seahawk Gold (formerly Golden Seahawk) | 4.20 | | Like all Cotleigh beers, has good flavours, good ingredients, excellent mouthfeel. Great easy drinking bitter with a significant bitter finish. Wide mouthfeel, minerality but just a great bitter. |

I swear this place has a new manager. It's almost civilised. There was even a staff member saying "Anyone waiting?" and not finding a taker. Started a quiz night on a Wednesday. Older clientele in along with youngsters after cheap booze.
Elgood's - Black Dog Mild | 3.60 | | Outside of Moorhouses Black Cat and Cains Mild, probably my favourite mild. And this was good, plenty of malts with that slightly acidic side to it. Choccy, but more coffee. Just a beer you can knock back and savour. |
Jennings (since closure now brewed at Marston's) - Sneck Lifter | 5.10 | | Requisite chocciness with decent malts and makes it a tasty drinkable premium bitter. |

First day of the Wetherspoon festival and I didn't think that the Ashford branch would have much, but how wrong I was. 5 new beers for me and plenty of point of sale stuff up for the festival. I was even offered the 3 nips.
Wadworth - St. George & the Dragon | 4.50 | | Also badged as Mann's St George and the Dragon. Copper colour with lasting beige head. Caramel malt. Roasted nuts. The dry roasted peanut thing is bizarre. I can't quite believe it's supposed to be like this. It's ridiculous. The lfavour of malt and peanut makes it unbelievabley drinkable. Definitely will try the other half pint. I had the other half and yes it did taste of dry roasted peanuts. |
Everards (see entries against Joule's & Robinsons whilst its new brewery was being built) - Sly Fox | 4.00 | | Gold with thin beige head. Certainly has ginger and I like ginger flavoured beers and I like this. Fairly simple blond beer with some stem ginger. |
Brakspear (at Marston's Wychwood then at Banks's) - Organic | 4.00 | | Light, pale bitter. It's got some nice floral hop on finish. Fine, some rose petal, some good syrupy citrus fruits and tangerine. |
Nelson - Land of Hops & Glory | 3.90 | | Brewed especially for JDW according to the pump clip. Hazy amber colour with thin beige head. Some caramel on aroma, tangy hops on finish. Hops are fun on a standard bitter. |
Thwaites - Double Century | 4.80 | | Copper colour with thin white head. Slightly soapy/syrupy premium bitter. I fear I've ruined my taste buds as all the beer tonight tasted nice. Syrupy alcohol is tangeriney. Decent hop finish. Fine. |

It was curry night and I just stopped in for a fast pint or two.
Badger (Hall & Woodhouse) - Tanglefoot (was 4.9%) | 4.70 | | Never a big fan of this before. Clear amber colour with lasting beige head. Some of that Badger yeasty distinctive aroma, hops on end are almost coppery citrus. Decent zesty tingle and extremely drinkable. I'm impressed, would have drunk it all night. |
Nelson - Friggin in the Riggin | 4.70 | | I agree with Steve, having a thick creamy head on a Kent beer is silly. Simple drinkable bitter. Not as good as the Tanglefoot so only a 3/5 |
Eagle (formerly Wells & Young's, formerly Charles Wells, formerly Wells) - Courage Best Bitter (use Marston's entry now please) | 4.00 | Not Tried

Popped in for a swifty after work
Nelson - Friggin in the Riggin | 4.70 | | one small thing spoilt this pint was it being served with a very tight sparkler took ages to get the pint poured the bar staff struggled with it I mentioned about taking the sparkler off but he said it's company policy to keep it on OK for Northern beers but a beer brewed in Kent!! still the beer was in excellent condition made easier to drink by the way it was served |

Sat out the back on the patio enjoying the sunshine.
Hanlons (formerly O'Hanlon's) - Original Port Stout | 4.80 | | One of my favourite stouts. Fruity as well as the traditional dark roasted malts. |
27 Mar 2007 (Ian)
I had been to the dentist so felt I deserved a pint.
Exmoor - Beast | 6.60 | | I love this beer. Deep, huge and full of alcohol. Great. |
Marston's - Old Empire IPA | 5.70 | Not Tried

I had had a particularly good day at work, so I thought that I would break my self imposed weekday sobriety and check this pub out for any interesting guest beers. And what a great one I got Exmoor Beast which I have been looking for since the Wetherspoons festival last October. Reasonably busy on steak night, but as always, not enough staff on to cope with the volume of customers.
Exmoor - Beast | 6.60 | | Very deep ruby colour with lasting tight beige head. Aroma of dark fruits, damson and dark plum, but not sour. Some choc. Smooth juicy fruity in mouth. More dark fruit juice. Fruit skin aroma is very good. Noticeable dose of hop on finish. Some more smooth choc on finish. Little bit of grainyness. A rather stunning pint. Alcohol hardly makes a presence until you try to stand up and your legs have gone. Excellent |
Hopdaemon - Incubus | 4.00 | Not Tried | At 99p |
Eagle (formerly Wells & Young's, formerly Charles Wells, formerly Wells) - Courage Best Bitter (use Marston's entry now please) | 4.00 | Not Tried

I'd not had a particularly good day at work so I thought that I deserved a pint. Which is what I had. Very young clientele in at around 22.00, but I found a seat and still managed to enjoy a pint whilst people watching.
Wickwar - Old Arnold | 4.60 | | Very malty beer, bit of sweetness and then some hop on the finish. |
