Beautiful evening to enjoy the views from the harbour wall. On a night like this there can be few better places to enjoy a pint.
| Timothy Taylor - Golden Best (was 3.5%) | 3.40 | | Taylor's yeast on the nose and subtle floral flavours. Will be better tomorrow after venting for another 24 hours. |
| Angus Ales - Gowfer's Gold | 3.80 | | Golden ale. Totally unbalanced with harsh and clashing flavours. Even at 3.8% seemed thin. |
| Belhaven - Caledonian Deuchars IPA | 3.80 | Not Tried | |
| Timothy Taylor - Landlord | 4.30 | Not Tried | |
| Harviestoun - Bitter & Twisted | 3.80 | Not Tried | |

Busyish. Mixed service.
| BrewDog - The Physics | 5.00 | | 4.1/2*. Dark amber, booming resinous, fruity hops with long satisfying finish. |
| Caledonian - Mild Mayhem | 3.50 | | Thin in the glass and mouth. Dominated by cocoa powder - not much else. |
| Belhaven - Caledonian Deuchars IPA | 3.80 | Not Tried | |
| Timothy Taylor - Landlord | 4.30 | Not Tried | |
| Inveralmond - Dunottar | 4.20 | Not Tried | |
| Arran (formerly Isle of Arran) - Clyde Puffer | 4.50 | Not Tried | Should have tried this. Didn't realise it was a stout. Good case for tasting notes on the bar blackboard. |

Busy.
| BrewDog - The Physics | 5.00 | | Looked great - dark amber with long lasting light tan head. A warming ale with an initial fruity burst built on biscuit base. Intense hoppy finish. |

25 Oct 2009 (McGargle)
Late afternoon and very busy. Lively atmosphere with people enjoying the crack. Even in hard times good pubs do well.
| Mordue - Workie Ticket | 4.50 | | Served colder than I would like. Coming to the end of the cask the malty flavour and full body dominated. |
| Houston - Killellan | 3.70 | | I remember this as a floral, lightly hopped beer. Today it was nondescript. |

Been coming here since the halcyon days when Stewart managed the bar and cellar and The Marine, quite rightly, won its first CAMRA Scottish Pub of The Year. Nowadays, the beer selection is not quite so eclectic concentrating, as it does, on Scottish micros but this is compensated for by the excellent bottled beer list and interesting kegs.
| BrewDog - 77 Lager | 4.90 | | Sparkling in the glass and in the mouth this tastes like Martin Dickie's interpretation of a classic Czech beer - "tankova" Pilsner Urquell would be a good current comparison. Dark gold in colour with a long lasting creamy head it looked terrific. Aroma and taste matched and, served at cellar temperature, it was MUCH better than the bottled version. |
| Orkney (Sinclair) - Raven Ale | 3.80 | Not Tried | |
| Inveralmond - Ossian's Ale | 4.10 | Not Tried | |
13 Sep 2009 (McGargle)
Very busy late evening. Quick, friendly service - just wish we didn't have to fight through drinkers standing/sitting at the bar. You'd think they'd get fed up with being jostled but apparently not.
| BrewDog - Punk IPA | 6.00 | | Much better than the last sample. Full on hoppy aromas carried through to the taste balance by plenty of malt for mouthfeel. |
