17 Mar 2013 (McGargle)
With a change of management the old problems of over-carbonated, over-chilled beers have resurfaced.
BrewDog - Dead Pony Club (keg) | 3.80 | | Loaded with fresh hops. Would have been 4* except for the serve. |
BrewDog - Chaos Theory (keg) | 7.10 | | Where were the hops? Should have been rammed with Nelson Sauvin but they seemed curiously absent.Boring, brown, over-chilled, over-carbonated. |
07 Mar 2013 (McGargle)
Thriving.
BrewDog - Dead Pony Club (keg) | 3.80 | | Fresh and hoppy. |
28 Feb 2013 (McGargle)
Rammed but fast service. Poor guest list.
BrewDog - Libertine Black IPA (keg) | 7.00 | | When fresh the Simcoe hops leap out and grab you by the throat. Tonight they couldn't summon the energy to crawl out and die. |
21 Feb 2013 (McGargle)
Busy mid-evening. No sign of the novelty wearing off.
Enjoyed a 650ml bottle of Green Flash Imperial, abv. 9.4%, at the (relatively) modest price of £7.80.
19 Feb 2013 (McGargle)
Beer tastings seem a real success. They's drawn in aat least 20 additional customers on this driech evening.
Magic Rock - Canonball IPA (keg) | 7.40 | | Confident, West Coast style, IPA. Big flavours, solid but slightly metallic finish. |
07 Feb 2013 (Ray)
Busy late evening. Predominantly tounger crowd savouring rather than necking their beer.
BrewDog - Libertine Black IPA (keg) | 7.00 | | Not at its freshest. Hops seemed strangely muted for a BrewDog beer. |
31 Jan 2013 (McGargle)
Lively. Craft beer still thrives here.
BrewDog - Libertine Black IPA (keg) | 7.00 | | No wonder I can't buy Simcoe for my home brew. They've all gone here. |
10 Jan 2013 (McGargle)
Exemplary service from people who are keen to talk about beer and music.
BrewDog - Punk IPA (keg) | 5.40 | | This was great. From the new brewery at Ellon, it was fresh, hoppy and well balanced. Let's hope this is the shape of (good) things to come. |
Cromarty - Rogue Wave (keg) | 5.70 | | Anywhere else this would have merited 4* but somehow it didn't stand up against BrewDog's fuller flavours. Restrained. |
27 Nov 2012 (McGargle)
Busy. Got out just as the live 'music' was starting.
Magic Rock - Big Top (keg) | 8.00 | | 5AM Saint on steroids. |
Uncommon - Baltic Porter (keg) | 7.80 | | Hoppy beer with clear coffee flavours. Head died quickly. |
Cromarty - Red Rocker (keg) | 5.00 | Not Tried | |
04 Oct 2012 (McGargle)
Busy. Excellent service.
Schneider - Schneider Weisse Original (keg) | 5.40 | | Badged here as Tap 7 this is a classic wheat beer. Fruity spice aromas, full bodied and crisp. Bitter almost sour finish. |
