Busy all evening from 6pm opening time and at times absolutely wedged. It was the annual 1066 Old Ale evening which was started in Alan's days and has become extremely popular. There were two pins on Old Ale on the bar and I doubt whether there was much of it left at the end of the day. Polly provided some excellent free food.

Deserved contra-entry, 12:20ish last pint before departing to catch the No 12 bus, new cask of Fine Light just gone on warranted another review.

Arrived just after 10:00 special early opening arranged after the funeral of long standing former landlord Alan Marlow. His popularity was most apparent as it was standing room only here. I managed to purloin a free seat on an occupied table.

In Wyatt Street, one of three Goacher's tied pubs. Décor has not been updated for some time, but that adds to the joy of this quiet pub. Light, Mild and Stout on regularly. If you like Goacher's, then come here. Also, if you like a quiet pub with no airs or graces that serves well crafted beers then this is your place.
