Busier than usual for last 30 minutes of serving as a local's birthday outing ended here.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Iron Pier - Bitter4.00Good2nd night on and still a good head and an immediate bitter mouthfeel.
Vibrant Forest - Black Forest4.90AcceptableFresh on for this Friday's visit and had a head when poured and presented with but vanished some 10 minutes later when ready to try this half of porter. Slightly fizzy on the tongue and medicinal tasting as in sour. It was helped down with a bread roll of spicy sausage and tomato.
Five Points - Gold3.40AcceptableNot what it was the evening before as had possibly the last one out of the barrel this time around but still with conditioning but lacklustre in fruity taste.

03 Sep 2024 (Hogan Sampling)
Quiet footfall, including a few fiddlers out in the backroom, for last 30 minutes of serving.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Southwark - Bermondsey Best4.40GoodI thought I would give this one another go since trying it on Sunday. Such a good head and less medicinal than on Sunday by a long way but malty to the "nth degree", as you could not have packed more malt into it if you tried! Think also of chestnuts in a soup for this one, a splash of honey and liberal sprinklings of lavender. A few hours later and I was not sure I would hold it down but my stomach accepted it after all.
Oakham - Green Devil IPA Cask Aged6.00GoodJust a half sufficed due to its extra gravity. Very sweet on first tasting with tropical fruit flavours but a fine bitter aftertaste.

01 Sep 2024 (Hogan Sampling)
Very busy for last 40 minutes of serving and staff member who plays the requested music loudly back on, on a Sunday.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Southwark - Bermondsey Best4.40GoodNew on with a frothy head and fine lacing. Sharp to taste and to the bottom of the glass but fizzing on the tongue and very, very malty. It was like drinking a soup as although clear, it had a chewy mouthfeel. One sufficed.
Oakham - Harmonic (collaboration with Salopian)4.40GoodStill good head from trying night before but cor, was it packed with fruit! Many a grapefruit would have been harmed in the making of it!

Marble - Draft3.90AcceptableNot overly bitter, little condition. Had Marble in much better condition
Iron Pier - Dark Mild3.00AcceptableUnusually bitter for a mild but poured and stayed flat

31 Aug 2024 (Hogan Sampling)
Busy for last 50 minutes of serving and so a few more faces back from their summer holidays.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Oakham - Harmonic (collaboration with Salopian)4.40GoodA beer with a good head, that's my boy, and made up for the flat Goachers just before. Hoppy with a very heavy amount of grapefruit flavouring and pine resin.
Goacher's - Fine Light Ale3.70AcceptableShame as was superb night before. Must have been at the end of its barrel as flat and only second day on. Shows how popular it has been!
Marble - Draft3.90Not Tried
