Hopdaemon - Skrimshander IPA | 4.50 | | Not up to the usual excellent standard, but OK. |

Unfortunately I didn't take any notes, therefore I'm relying on instinct, but the beer must have been great - beacause it always is!
Whitstable - East India Pale Ale (or EIPA) | 4.10 | | I remember citrus, plenty of bite and a beautiful aroma. |
Hopdaemon - Incubus | 4.00 | | It was getting late, but the aroma was lovely. |
Moorhouse's - Black Cat Mild | 3.40 | | If I were a mild drinker I would drink this whenever possible. Full of dark malts and resin. |
Hop Back - Summer Lightning | 5.00 | Not Tried
1648 - Bee-Head | 4.60 | Not Tried

Excellent late afternoon/early evening session with Brian, Andrew and Jane. New landlord and landlady (Charlie and Heather) are superb hosts and made us feel very welcome sat at the bar. Beer quality and service were top notch
Moorhouse's - Black Cat Mild | 3.40 | | Smooth mild, dark ruby in colour with superb burnt malts, caramel, toffee, coffee and chocolate. |
Whitstable - East India Pale Ale (or EIPA) | 4.10 | | Tasted of Lings red turkish delight. Golden beer with lots of red beery and hop aromas. A bit of sherbert in the mouth with more rich fruit. Hoppy, dry finish with more red berry fruit. Rich and excrutiatingly lovely |
Hopdaemon - Incubus | 4.00 | | Rich beer with good malt/hop balance |
Hop Back - Summer Lightning | 5.00 | Not Tried
1648 - Bee-Head | 4.60 | Not Tried | Only had a sip of this when it came on. Nice hop nose with good honey flavour. One of the better honey beers |

Late afternoon to early evening session sitting at the bar with Jane, Ian and Brian. The beer range was as good as ever and the pub was very friendly.
Moorhouse's - Black Cat Mild | 3.40 | | This beer is fantastic. Dark and malty and very very drinkable as my evening testified. |
Hopdaemon - Incubus | 4.00 | Not Tried
Hop Back - Summer Lightning | 5.00 | Not Tried
Whitstable - East India Pale Ale (or EIPA) | 4.10 | Not Tried

Having walked here from the Two Sawyers at Woolage Green, we were gagging for a quality pint when we got here. Happily to say we were not let down.
Hopdaemon - Skrimshander IPA | 4.50 | | Excellent as usual |
Whitstable - Oyster Stout | 4.50 | | This is so rich that I could only manage the one. |
Goacher's - Real Mild Ale | 3.40 | Not Tried
Hopdaemon - Incubus | 4.00 | Not Tried
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 3 | 5.00 | Not Tried

Arrived just after 7pm and it was fairly quiet except for a few people eating in the main bar. Sat in the back and had some dinner (which was very good). This is a very friendly pub with a lovely interior.
Whitstable - East India Pale Ale (or EIPA) | 4.10 | | Golden yellow colour with a rich citrus fruit taste. The finish was bitter and subtly resinous. Very nice indeed. |
Goacher's - Real Mild Ale | 3.40 | | Last pint from the barrel. Lacked the bite a fresher pint would have had but there was nothing wrong with it. |
Whitstable - Oyster Stout | 4.50 | | Sweet with a burnt edge and an oyster rich taste on the finish. |
Burton Bridge - Stairway To Heaven | 5.00 | Not Tried
Hopdaemon - Skrimshander IPA | 4.50 | Not Tried | Just went off as I walked in and the next barrel wasn't ready yet. Shame. |

Torn between watching England thrash the Aussies or visiting the Yew Tree for more ale. Eventually chose the pub, but it was close.
Hopdaemon - Skrimshander IPA | 4.50 | | Second pint out of the barrel! Full of flavour, creamy in the mouth and fantastic hoppy bite in the aftertaste. In my opinion, exactly what a Kentish beer, served in the heart of Kent should taste like. |
Hopdaemon - Incubus | 4.00 | | Nice dark malt and hop flavour, but I was really waiting for the Skrim to come back on. |
Hopdaemon - Skrimshander IPA | 4.50 | | Seemed OK, maybe a little tired, but it turned out to be the last pint from the barrel |
27 Aug 2005 (Andrew)
Lunchtime session and it was fairly busy with a number of drinker as well as people there for food.
Goacher's - Real Mild Ale | 3.40 | | A sweet hoppy start followed by subtle burnt malt on the finish. |
Hopdaemon - Skrimshander IPA | 4.50 | | Hoppy with a smooth malt finish. Very drinkable |
Hopdaemon - Incubus | 4.00 | Not Tried
Hogs Back - Tongham TEA (previously T.E.A.) | 4.20 | Not Tried
Cottage - Honour & Victory | 4.70 | Not Tried | Had a sip though and it was a pale rich strong cottage beer. Very nice |
20 Aug 2005 (Andrew)
I cycled here mid afternoon and apart from 4 locals sitting around after their lunch it was empty. This is truely a lovely pub with it's cosy front bar looking out into the dappled lane
Hopdaemon - Incubus | 4.00 | | This isn't really my type of beer as it's too rich but it was very well served and full of deep rich malt & hops |
Goacher's - Real Mild Ale | 3.40 | | Lots of burnt malt and some hops. Perhaps getting a little tired but still good |
Hopdaemon - Skrimshander IPA | 4.50 | | Bit cloudy because he was having problems with the beer engine but it tasted its usual soapy rich hoppiness. |
Whitstable - Oyster Stout | 4.50 | | I'm sure when Brian had this 3 days ago it was as loverly as he said but in those 3 days it had degraded and was now only fit for putting on your chips. I took it back and he took the barrel off and swapped my drink for another so no complaints there. |
Hogs Back - Tongham TEA (previously T.E.A.) | 4.20 | Not Tried | This came on after the Stout was taken off |
17 Aug 2005 (Brian)
Back again. For information, there is 20p reduction on a pint for all Camra members Monday to Wednesday. Also live music every Thursday evening.
Whitstable - Oyster Stout | 4.50 | | Winner of this years gold medal at the Kent Beer Festival. So, say no more. |
