Dropped by for a swift half on my lunch break. Good line-up of beer and the pub was quite busy, I love Wetherspoons.

Fairly quiet mid afternoon. I had set out to find a spoons with the Stone San Diego Session IPA on,and here it was first stop.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Wadworth - Stone Brewing San Diego Session IPA4.50ExceptionalWow, I could smell the hop aroma just carrying the glass to the table. Super hop aroma, just like crushing a hop cone in your hand. Stunning hop taste with a long bitter finish, maybe very slightly harsh but still a super pint if you like overwhelming hops.

26 Mar 2011 (Martin the Mildman)
Very busy on a Saturday lunchtime, mainly with families dining.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Thwaites - Bloomin' Smoky5.00GoodSupposedly a tawny, cloudy smoked wheat beer, it wasn't any of these. What it was to me was a pleasant porter/old style beer with a sweetish malt character with just a hint of smokiness. My score 15/20.
Oakham - Taipan4.90AcceptableVery hoppy and bitter without much malt for balance. Finish is hoppy and bitter. My score 14/20.
Shepherd Neame - Ballast Point Calico Amber5.20AcceptableRather bitter with a dryish hop character and little malt balance. Very dry, astringent finish. Reminiscent of Sheps beers in the 80s. My score 14/20.
