In Canterbury with a few minutes to spare and remembered spoons had their autumn beer festival on so decided to take a look. Not many people in tonight, still early though. Only listing the beer I tried.
Adnams - Avery 3 Point 5 Session Ale | 3.50 | | Nice hoppy American ale, copper colour, thin white head. Hops strong but not harsh, could have drunk several of these, a bit lacking on the finish perhaps. |

03 Nov 2011 (Blair)
Dropped by for a swift half on my lunch break. Good line-up of beer and the pub was quite busy, I love Wetherspoons.
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Brother Rabbit | 4.00 | | Very good pale ale. Extremely drinkable. |
18 Oct 2011 (Mick)
Fairly quiet mid afternoon. I had set out to find a spoons with the Stone San Diego Session IPA on,and here it was first stop.
Wadworth - Stone Brewing San Diego Session IPA | 4.50 | | Wow, I could smell the hop aroma just carrying the glass to the table. Super hop aroma, just like crushing a hop cone in your hand. Stunning hop taste with a long bitter finish, maybe very slightly harsh but still a super pint if you like overwhelming hops. |
Brains - Dark (aka Red Dragon Dark) | 3.50 | Not Tried
Shepherd Neame - Whitstable Bay Organic Ale | 4.50 | Not Tried
Harviestoun - Number of the Beast | 3.60 | Not Tried
Maxim - Andersons Best Scotch | 4.20 | Not Tried
JW Lees (see also Lees) - The Governor | 3.80 | Not Tried
26 Mar 2011 (Martin the Mildman)
Very busy on a Saturday lunchtime, mainly with families dining.
Thwaites - Bloomin' Smoky | 5.00 | | Supposedly a tawny, cloudy smoked wheat beer, it wasn't any of these. What it was to me was a pleasant porter/old style beer with a sweetish malt character with just a hint of smokiness. My score 15/20. |
Oakham - Taipan | 4.90 | | Very hoppy and bitter without much malt for balance. Finish is hoppy and bitter. My score 14/20. |
Shepherd Neame - Ballast Point Calico Amber | 5.20 | | Rather bitter with a dryish hop character and little malt balance. Very dry, astringent finish. Reminiscent of Sheps beers in the 80s. My score 14/20. |
Wadworth - 125 Stout | 4.00 | Not Tried
Batemans - All Seasons | 4.20 | Not Tried
Robinsons - Ginger Tom | 4.30 | Not Tried
Everards (see entries against Joule's & Robinsons whilst its new brewery was being built) - Early Doors | 4.50 | Not Tried
Everards (see entries against Joule's & Robinsons whilst its new brewery was being built) - Zeunerts Ale | 4.50 | Not Tried
