BeerABVScoreNotes
Shepherd Neame - Cinque Ale4.10GoodSlightly pukey. Mahogany brown. Resinous. Nettle-hops.
Woodforde's - Once Bittern4.10GoodLight brown colour. Weak malty body. Slightly sickly. Hint of perfume.
Greene King - Bretwalda4.10AcceptableIf was a GK beer so I thought, '...they must do at least 1 good beer so maybe this is it'. It wasn't. It was okay. Dark brown. Nettle-hop. Roasted malt.

Late afternoon. Good range of festival beers on.
BeerABVScoreNotes
BrewDog - Edge3.20ExcellentI mean it's not a mild as it's too hoppy. It's a dark bitter but a very good one.
St Austell - Coxswain's Special4.00ExcellentLovely deep amber colour, lasting beige head. Decent bitter, rather a good biting sherbert on finish. It's rather good. This sherbert hop is lovely. Lemon/grapefruit. Soft in mouth. Great condition. Just very drinkable and lovely hop.
Palm - Steenhuffel Blond4.60GoodBrown/gold, thin off white head. Well it's clearly got Nelson Sauvin hoops. Lovely N. Sauvin aroma. A little sweetness. Rather lovely I thought. It all fits well together. Good stuff. Maybe could be in better nick. But hops are lovely
JW Lees (see also Lees) - Chocoholic3.60AcceptableDeep, deep ruby colour thin dark beige head. No big expectation from previous reviews. It's a slightly choccy mild. It's a mild. It's a mild what do you expect? It's mild and it's a mild.
Everards (see entries against Joule's & Robinsons whilst its new brewery was being built) - Coppernob4.50AcceptableYep it's a brown/copper coloured bitter. It's a bitter that isn't quite bitter. Some decent fruit. It's fine, nothing wrong with it. But nothing interesting. Caramel and maybe touch of diacetyl.
Black Wolf (formerly Traditional Scottish Ales (TSA)) - Double Expresso4.80PoorBlack colour. Lasting dark beige head. Coffee, like a coffee chocolate from a chocolate box. Or coffee cake or coffee icing on a coffee cake. It's not a double espresso more like a capuccino and I don't like milk in my coffee. It's no Weasel. To be honest half way through the pint I was sick of it. Eventually had to stick some bourbon in it otherwise it was pretty much undrinkable. Better with the bourbon, but still not my thing.
Bath Ales - Ginger Hare3.90PoorSome haze gold. Touch of orange on colour, thin white head. Ginger and diacetyl? Not good. Some ginger but lacks body. Really disappointed with Bath. They can make good beers. But been so disappointed with them. Some ginger biscuit on aroma. Lacks body in middle. Not great.

BeerABVScoreNotes
Okell's - Alt5.00GoodCertainly a good looking beer. Some very good fruit in the mouth red and dark fruits. Malts are quite sweet too. Not much like Uerige fresh or a couple of the others, as this is a bit fuller than something like the Schlossel. But overall it’s a tasty fullish sweetish malty beer with some dryness on the finsih. Would I pick this as an Alt in a blind tasting? Probably not, more a malt led best bitter. Drinkable enough though.
Herold - Black Chalice4.80PoorToo much liquorice flavour for me, I didn't like it, I'm afraid.
Rooster's - Patriot4.70PoorGold with a lasting off white head. Slightly sweet golden syrup aroma and a bit of freshly chopped wood too, which is odd. Sweet woody flavour carries on into the mouth and the malts are really a lot sweeter than I would expect. Finish has some dryness without any distinctive hop taste. Not a world beater at all and certainly not one of Rooster’s best. Their Outlaw beers tend to be better these days
