13:30 visit. A good place to stop, and my two Northern pals were suitably impressed.

My favorite pub on Canterbury. Here with Ian drinking beer. Great night out, in the style of the good old days.

Still my favorite pub in Canterbury, especially on hot days as everyone else seems to want to sit outside so I get the interior to myself more or less.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Canterbury Ales (sometimes badged as Canterbrew) - The Wife of Bath's Ale3.90ExceptionalExcellent condition; excellent temperature; excellent beer. I just love the astringent peanut-grapefruit flavours in this beer. ...and all at 3.9%.

Hot, which means most folk are sitting out. Sat under the alter that is the Fremlins window.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Canterbury Ales (sometimes badged as Canterbrew) - The Wife of Bath's Ale3.90ExcellentAh the Wife. Good condition but if I were really picky it was a degree too warm. Still, it's a great beer.

The Fremlin's window was free so of course we sat under that. Not too busy and I had a brief chat with an old work colleague too. Always a pleasure coming here.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Old Dairy (being contract brewed after it closed) - Gold Top4.30GoodNot my favourite Old Dairy but Tony thought it was excellent.
Canterbury Ales (sometimes badged as Canterbrew) - Rauchbier4.80UndrinkableI had a half as it was a Canterbury Ales beer (even if the style didn't excite me). I had to txt Ian to find out if Rauchbier was supposed to taste of vinegar. It's not, so this must have been past its best.

The fire was roaring away. Not too full either. Lovely.

Sat with Ian on the sofa by the jukebox and was occasionally bumped into by some Scottish gents at the bar.

Abigale - Samphire4.10PoorThe condition was okay but it just didn't taste like Samphire. It was dusty tasting and too warm.

Busy outside the pub but lots of free seating inside. Ian and I sat at the back and drank beer - because that's what pubs are for.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Canterbury Ales (sometimes badged as Canterbrew) - The Wife of Bath's Ale3.90ExcellentExcellent beer this but served too warm again. Ian's pint of Dr Sunshine was about 4 degrees colder than mine. Drop the temperature and it would have been outstanding.
