Last pub of the night and one John had had his eye on from the beginning. Sat at the bar and swayed a bit (a theme that came back later on when I walked into a tree on the way home).
BeerABVScoreNotes
Dark Star - Hophead was 3.8% (some has also been brewed by Fuller's)3.40ExcellentBurton snatch on every sip but then replaced by classic Hophead grapefruit hoppyness. Dare I say it but take the Burton snatch flavour away and this was nearly as good as at the Butchers.
Banks's - Bitter3.80GoodCreamy red fruit. Nothing like the bottle version I can get from Aldi for a quid. Bottle version is better I think.

Busy late lunchtime on Christmas Eve.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Dark Star - Hophead was 3.8% (some has also been brewed by Fuller's)3.40ExcellentObviously a well cellared example of this beer as there was not only the excellent citrus hop flavour but also a well defined underlying malt character adding extra depth and smoothness to the beer. Best sample I've had in a long time - my score 16/20.

1800 and a good few in. A proper local feel to this pub. And having spent a small fortune in the excellent Canterbury Bottle Shop, visited the German Xmas market and the superb Foundry Tap, we all met here for one more ale before leaving for home.

Had a little while before my train so called in here for a quick half. Very quiet and relaxing in here with most patrons in the back garden.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 73.80ExcellentLong time since I had sampled this, a classic English quaffing bitter, dark amber with good bicuity malt character and a little background hop bitterness. My score 16/20.

I'd love to see a bit more variety with the ales in here. However, it is still a charming pub that you know you can get a decent pint of beer in.

Saturday lunchtime and quiet except for the conversation about the Simpsons and the knifey spoony skit.

Unfortunately the Shere Drop ran out as it was being poured. I think the Canterbury Ales was going to come on next but I left to get an earlier train home.

Yes I like this place, proper pub rather than the tourists you get in the centre
BeerABVScoreNotes
Whitstable - Pearl of Kent4.50GoodFunny, I went through a period of not liking these beers from this brewery, but the last 2 I have had have been good. Lovely rose petal citrus notes
