Had a little while before my train so called in here for a quick half. Very quiet and relaxing in here with most patrons in the back garden.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 7 | 3.80 | | Long time since I had sampled this, a classic English quaffing bitter, dark amber with good bicuity malt character and a little background hop bitterness. My score 16/20. |
19 Jun 2011 (Blair)
I'd love to see a bit more variety with the ales in here. However, it is still a charming pub that you know you can get a decent pint of beer in.
Ringwood - Razorback | 3.80 | | Solid best bitter. |
Shepherd Neame - Master Brew Bitter | 3.70 | Not Tried
Whitstable - East India Pale Ale (or EIPA) | 4.10 | Not Tried
Sharp's - Doom Bar | 4.00 | Not Tried
11 Jun 2011 (Ian)
Saturday lunchtime and quiet except for the conversation about the Simpsons and the knifey spoony skit.
Abigale - Samphire | 4.10 | | Looked perfect. Brown bitter with a touch of gooseberry on the hops. |
Hopdaemon - Golden Braid | 3.70 | Not Tried
Shepherd Neame - Master Brew Bitter | 3.70 | Not Tried
Sharp's - Doom Bar | 4.00 | Not Tried

Unfortunately the Shere Drop ran out as it was being poured. I think the Canterbury Ales was going to come on next but I left to get an earlier train home.
Surrey Hills - Shere Drop | 4.20 | Not Tried | Ran out halfway through pouring. |
27 Dec 2010 (Ian)
Decent set of locals in. You can follow the beers at the pub on Twitter @unicorninn. Canterbury Ales Reeves Ale appearing as soon as the Doom Bar runs out.

Yes I like this place, proper pub rather than the tourists you get in the centre
Whitstable - Pearl of Kent | 4.50 | | Funny, I went through a period of not liking these beers from this brewery, but the last 2 I have had have been good. Lovely rose petal citrus notes |
Ringwood - Razorback | 3.80 | | Very malty bitter |
10 Jul 2010 (Andrew)
For some reason this pub always reminds me of a bus station waiting room. Ian disagreed. Anyway there were lots of people sitting around the horseshoe bar with more out in the garden.
Whitstable - Pearl of Kent | 4.50 | | I like Pearl hops and so, not surprisingly, I like this beer. Unfortunately I'd had a salad-kebab on the way up to the pub which had consisted of mainly raw onion so I couldn't actually taste much more than onion when drinking this. |
Belhaven - Caledonian Deuchars IPA | 3.80 | Not Tried
1648 - Brew Master | 3.90 | Not Tried
Ringwood - Razorback | 3.80 | Not Tried

Very convenient pub for Canterbury West Station. I stopped off here for one on the way to the KM Big Quiz just up the road. The food offer here seemed very popular 2 meals for not much money.
Hopdaemon - Golden Braid | 3.70 | | One of the best pints of this I've had in some time. Fresh and lovely. Yes, hoppy, but not overly so with a little biscuit malt on the swallow. |
Shepherd Neame - Master Brew Bitter | 3.70 | Not Tried
Belhaven - Caledonian Deuchars IPA | 3.80 | Not Tried
Eagle (formerly Wells & Young's, formerly Charles Wells, formerly Wells) - Wells Bombardier (now superseded by 4.1% version) | 4.30 | Not Tried
15 Jan 2010 (Glyn)
Not been in this pub for many a year, and cannot remember it being this pleasant, it is also the busiest I have seen a pub for years, just like the old days.Great atmosphere and mixture of people.
Hopdaemon - Incubus | 4.00 | | Excellent condition with that delicate aftertaste |
