Saturday mid afternoon not overly busy, just popped in to see what was on.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Thwaites - Summat Special4.00AcceptableCopper with lasting thick ivory head. It's a bitter. Drinks ok in mouth, ok fullness. Has a bitterness on finish. A competent if not exciting bitter.

Just popped in on the way back to the station, glad to see the St Peters beer on.
BeerABVScoreNotes
St Peter's - Old Style Porter5.10GoodGreat condition really. Good full flavour. Decent bitter roasted malts, some toffee. Good though

Had 40 minutes until our train and this is always a pub you can rely on to have at least one interesting beer, and once again it didn't disappoint. Sat at the windows by the entrance and watched passers by. This probably is my favourite wetherspoons pub around.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Brewster's - Ice Queen4.80GoodLight, slightly sweet, hoppy ale. Really refreshing and pretty good.

Stop no. 4 on the whistle stop tour of Canterbury. Heaving on a Saturday night, but still served quite promptly. Very different clientele to Bramleys where I was just before.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Brewster's - Ice Queen4.80GoodLovely hop. Good condition. Sank a pint very quickly.

First port of call in our mini crawl of canterbury. Arrived at around 4 and it was quite busy.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Summerskills - Barley Mow4.80ExcellentI really liked this beer a lot. Very smooth and dark. Plenty of roasted malt and caramel. A lovely mild.

There was a problem with a broken down train outside Folkestone station, so I took the long route home via Dover and Canterbury, which meant I had half an hour to kill in the city. I didn't want to miss my train from West so ended up down here. Pretty empty apart from a middle aged couple taking advantage of the free wifi service in 'Spoons on matching Apple iBooks.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Coach House - Cromwell4.00AcceptableIt's a brown bitter. Some decent malt and raspberry type fruit on the aroma, some decent caramel malt in the mouth and flavour, good condition, some hoppy bite on the finish. As I said, a bitter.
Greene King - IPA (was 3.6%)3.40Not TriedIt's everywhere

Got to Canterbury a little early for the first shuttle bus to the festival. Popped in here for a pint first. Drinking before 11 in the morning, what was I thinking.
BeerABVScoreNotes

Very busy, shame that the busiest pubs in Canterbury on a tuesday are Wetherspoons, oh well.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Marston's - Pedigree4.50AcceptableI resented having to drink this, but I didn't have much choice. Overly sweet and cloying. But as Pedigree goes this wasn't a complete disaster.

Greene King - Abbot5.00Not Tried
Hanlons (formerly O'Hanlon's) - Original Port Stout4.80Not TriedWent off as I ordered it, I was not best pleased!

Really busy, good vibrant atmosphere. Managed to get a seat which was a bonus.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Brains - Bread of Heaven4.00AcceptableSweet and malty, pleasant but doesn't really live up to the name.

Not my favourite pub but it does have Sky News on plasma screens so I caught up with the latest sports news at 18.45
BeerABVScoreNotes
Golden Hill - Exmoor Gold5.00AcceptableFine golden beer
