05 Jun 2012 (Martin the Mildman)
Busy on the Jubilee Tuesday Bank Holiday afternoon.
Hogs Back - Majest.e.a. | 5.20 | | Ruby/amber beer with a fairly sweet, malty character. Full bodied with a fairly dry, fruity finish. My score 15/20. |
Weltons - Elizabeth II 6X | 6.00 | | Pale gold and quite well balanced with some fruity hop flavours. Fairly dry finish. My score 15/20. |
18 Apr 2012 (Martin the Mildman)
Titanic - Nine Tenths Below | 5.90 | | Strong, smooth golden ale with a real malty kick with hints of biscuit and toffee. Hop character is fairly restrained but the smooth malty mouthfeel gives the beer plenty of body. My score 15/20. |
14 Apr 2012 (oz11)
Evening, just time for a quick half before the bus. Quality of the one beer tried was so much better than my previous visit here.
Kelham Island (probably brewed by Thornbridge now) - Wild Rider IPA | 5.50 | | Very nice, maybe even a 4* rating, but my palate was pretty jaded by this point of the day. |
Daleside - Monkey Wrench (was 5.4%) | 5.30 | Not Tried
Lymestone - Foundation Stone | 4.50 | Not Tried
Inveralmond - Duncan's IPA | 4.40 | Not Tried

RCH - Puxton Cross Extra | 5.00 | Not Tried
09 Apr 2012 (Martin the Mildman)

07 Apr 2012 (oz11)
Just time for a couple of halves before the bus home. Disappointing quality on this visit. For a chain that prides itself on championing micro breweries this was very poor and should do better.
Phoenix - March Hare | 4.40 | | Tasted okay but was hazy enough for the chap next to me to send his back. |
Wooden Hand - Pirate's Gold | 4.00 | | Warm, flat and lifeless. |
Acorn - Old Moor Porter | 4.40 | Not Tried
Moorhouse's - APA Special | 4.80 | Not Tried
Banks's - Sunbeam | 4.20 | Not Tried
Arundel - New Horizons | 4.60 | Not Tried
01 Apr 2012 (Martin the Mildman)
Springhead - Willy's Wheatbeer | 5.00 | | Very pale and clear for a wheat beer but still with that slightly sour taste that I'm not to keen on. My score 13/20. |
31 Mar 2012 (Martin the Mildman)
Wychwood (now brewed at Banks's) - King Goblin (superseded by 6.6% version) | 6.00 | | Strong red beer with a mainly malty character. Some appley fruitiness but little hop character. My score 14/20. |
Caledonian - Zululand Zulu Blonde | 4.50 | | Pale with a sharp piney hop character. Sharp, dry finish that is not really to my taste. My score 13/20. |
25 Mar 2012 (Martin the Mildman)
Brief Sunday morning visit for the lunchtime rush.
Everards (see entries against Joule's & Robinsons whilst its new brewery was being built) - John Martin's Pale Ale | 5.00 | | Not particularly pale but quite bitter and hoppy with a good malt balance. Better than I expected. My score 15/20. |
18 Mar 2012 (Martin the Mildman)
Filling up well for Mother's day.
Batemans - Nøgne Ø Bitter | 4.50 | | Surprisingly hoppy with a bitter kick. Some malt in the finish. My score 15/20. |

Orkney (Sinclair) - Wayfarer IPA (Atlas range) | 4.40

Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - Chiswick | 3.50 | Not Tried
Milestone - Loxley Ale | 4.20 | Not Tried
Pilgrim - Progress Best Bitter | 4.00 | Not Tried
