Visits Details

30 Apr 2013 (Stephen Harris)
Early evening visit and it is very busy with people on their way to tonight’s Millwall vs Crystal Palace match. It took an age to get served at the front bar; less pressure at the rear bar. The chaps on the next table were discussing their various recent jail sentences.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Hawkshead - American Red4.20ExcellentVery good US hops and reddish malt. American Red good, Irish Red bad in my book at the moment.
Dark Star - Carafa Jade5.00GoodMalt-driven, slightly sweet, red ale.
Otter - Seville Bitter4.00GoodAmber-coloured. Slightly creamy. Subtle citrus/orange flavours coming from hops not fruit.

Busy. A decent selection of festival beers and a ‘meet the brewer’ event with Tillingbourne Brewery.

Tillingbourne - Bitter Gem4.60ExcellentPale and hoppy. Dry and bitter.
Tillingbourne - Falls Gold4.20ExcellentCrisp, pale and hoppy.
Greene King - Libertine5.00GoodGreene King discover hops shock! Pretty good actually, although given the hop selection it could be even more full-on.
Wadworth - Smuttynose Murrikan Mild4.20AcceptableAmber coloured, with sweetish, grainy malt. Didn’t really work for me.
