1930 visit. Busy and a noisy crowd in, log fire a blazing, and 9 delightful ales to choose from. Went through the card on halves to start off!
BeerABVScoreNotes
Burton Bridge - Top Dog Stout5.00ExceptionalAnother genuine 5* dark un'. And even more of this later too.
Kent - Cobnut4.10ExceptionalA top dark un'. More of this later.
Goacher's - Gold Star5.10ExcellentIn good nick tonite.
Wantsum - Fortitude (was 4.2%)4.60ExcellentMy third new ale tonite. This was very good too. And this is why the Pot is the current Kent poty?
Beer Rocks - Scary4.40ExcellentFrom some info on Google, this is some sort of irregular "test brewer". If you know more let me know and I'll update the info. The beer was actually very good, a dark red ale.
Rudgate - Marynka4.00ExcellentA new ale and fairly good too.
Harviestoun - Bitter & Twisted3.80Good
Hogs Back - Autumn Seer4.80GoodI'm assuming the Autumn Ale here is one and the same ale!
Hopdaemon - Skrimshander IPA4.50Good

There aren't too many pubs that I would happily spend a few hours drinking beer than here. After cycling up from Marden to here, I was in need of a refreshing beverage. The person behind the bar was fantastic and put on an Oakham beer just because I asked. Good pub.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Oakham - Mompesson's Gold (superseded by 5.2% version - see separate entry)5.00ExcellentThe woman behind the bar kindly put this on for me as I had requested an Oakham beer. It was in exquisite condition. Some tea flavour but quickly settled down into a really good slightly citrusy strong golden ale.
Canterbury Ales (sometimes badged as Canterbrew) - The Miller's Ale (originally 4.5%)4.20GoodA really good brown bitter in excellent condition.
