Hi Folks, Thanks for your support. Glad you've been enjoying the bar :) We've taken on board your comments on beer variety, but it's a bit of a tricky one. In the past a company called Flying Firkin used to ship beers all over the UK, but they no longer travel this far North. More recently we dealt with Ardoe Ales, but they packed it in 3 years ago, which was a real shame. We try to support Scottish micros where possible, but very few deliver to Aberdeen. It is possible to obtain some more interesting brews via the big brewers distribution networks, but this would be at the expense of the few micros that do distribute direct to Aberdeen. The cynic in me suspects that if those micros stopped their direct service then the big brewers would soon drop all the interesting stuff from their networks and we'd be left with the choice of local beers, Directors Bitter and a bunch a Green King stuff. What we've decided to do is to try and source as many seasonal brews and specials as possible form the existing suppliers, as opposed to the same beers that most other pubs carry. In addition to that we'll take the odd cask from the big boys network and hope for the best. BTW the ale python and pump cooler has been on the blink for a while despite numerous expensive attempts by the refrigeration engineer to fix it. We've bitten the bullet and ordered a new one, so hopefully the temp control will be sorted soon. In the meantime try to order after someone else and you'll get one at 13C as the cellar temp is fine ;)

Surprisingly quiet mid-evening. None of the ales had any appeal so enjoyed the kegs and bottles. Good night.

Deeside - Enfidach4.50GoodJet black porter. Some sour notes on the nose. Subdued chocolate and dark fruit in the mouth, no orange. Smooth easy finish.
Deeside - Mormaer4.00AcceptableMight be the last new beer from Deeside before the brewer returns to his day job. Shame. Slightly thin, lager style beer with some toffee flavours. OK but nothing special.

The pub is found in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, AB11 5AA.

Rock and metal music bar on Trinity Quay, with friendly staff and customers. Unstinting commitment to real ale - usually five from mostly Scottish micros (often BrewDog) on. Lined glasses used. Excellent selection of keg beers on font and plenty of interesting bottles - think Rodenbach, Cantillon and the like. Real Cider too. One of the best bars in Scotland and probably Britain, The Moorings Bar is an Aberdeen 'must visit'. Renamed in 2015. In March 2020 decided to closed for the duration of the Coronavirus alerts.

We have visited this pub 141 times, seen 157 different beers and tried 91 of them.
