10 Sep 2018 (Stephen Harris)
Stood at the bar with Terry L until he had to leave for his quiz fixture nearby. Pub quiet tonight.
| Bristol Beer Factory - Negroni | 4.60 | | I’m not familiar with the cocktail of the same name, but I enjoyed this. Alarmingly red in colour. Orange and juniper and herbs. |
| Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Severinia | 4.10 | | A dry, clear, golden beer. Tastes of lemon pith and peel but with a good malt backbone. |
| Northern Whisper - Tittle Tattle | 4.50 | | A Belgian-style Witbier. I’ve probably spent too much time in Belgium recently to give this much of a rating. |
| Tap East - East End Mild | 3.50 | Not Tried | |
| Tap East - Smokestack Porter | 6.00 | Not Tried | |
28 Aug 2018 (Stephen Harris)
Considerably more relaxed in here than the Waterloo Tap was earlier.
| Tap East - Experimental Belgian Pale | 4.50 | | Available on cellar run. Much fresher than the pint of this I drank last week. The better for it. |
| Bristol Beer Factory - Hawaii Juice-O | 4.50 | | Cloudy gold. Mango and pineapple. Hops too. |
| Tap East - Tonic Ale | 3.00 | Not Tried | |
| Tap East - Smokestack Porter | 6.50 | Not Tried | |
| Tap East - IPA | 6.00 | Not Tried | |
| Tap East - Dandy Cellarman | 5.50 | Not Tried | |
23 Aug 2018 (Stephen Harris)
A late-evening visit almost until closing time. Full of locals and regulars at this time rather than shoppers and travelers.
| Tap East - Experimental Belgian Pale | 4.50 | | A new beer launched tonight and unrelated to former Belgian Pales brewed here. Cloudy gold. Belgian yeast flavours and subtle hops. |
| Tap East - Dandy Cellarman | 5.50 | | Usually only available from keg; this pint from the one and only cask produced. A Pilsner-style Lager, well hopped with Mandarina. |
| Tap East - Tonic Ale | 3.00 | Not Tried | |
| Tap East - A.P.A. (American Pale Ale) | 4.30 | Not Tried | |
| Tap East - IPA | 6.00 | Not Tried | |
| Tap East - No. 6 Blonde | 4.10 | Not Tried | |
17 Aug 2018 (ChrisE)
Evening visit whilst waiting for a train. Music was being played at an uncomfortably high volume which spoiled my enjoyment and probably accounted for the pub not being as busy as I have found it on previous visits. Certainly if this trend continues I will opt to use the dry waiting room on the platform in future.
| Tap East - Smokestack Porter | 6.00 | | A good beer to finish off the evening. |
16 Aug 2018 (Stephen Harris)
A quick stop whilst passing through on the way home. Unusually quiet for a Thursday evening.
| Little Critters - Nutty Ambassador | 6.00 | | Strong and sweet and dark and nutty. |
| Tap East - JWB (Jim Wilson Bitter) | 3.80 | Not Tried | |
| Tap East - Smokestack Porter | 6.00 | Not Tried | |
09 Aug 2018 (Stephen Harris)
Not so busy, but it looks as if it must have been earlier as there are empty glasses and detritus everywhere – the whole place looks like it needs a good scrub.
| Atom - Jennsen’s Law | 3.50 | | Puzzlingly described as a ‘Table Beer’, this turns out to be an amber-coloured, spiced Witbier. |
| Alechemy - Blood Orange Shake | 3.90 | | Very sharp orange flavours. Too sharp for me. |
| Tap East - Tonic Ale | 3.00 | Not Tried | |
| Dark Revolution - Velveteen | 4.80 | Not Tried | |
| Tap East - Smokestack Porter | 6.00 | Not Tried | |
05 Aug 2018 (Stephen Harris)
Mid-evening. Busier than it often is on a Sunday evening. Lots of red faces, many people having been sitting in the sun watching hockey.
| Ilkley - Tribus Lupulus v3.7 | 4.40 | | A very fine beer. Golden and with a really good hop balance, featuring Ekuanot, Columbus and hbc 472. Ilkley seem to be on great form at the moment. |
| Tap East - JWB (Jim Wilson Bitter) | 3.80 | Not Tried | |
| Tap East - Coffee in the Morning (has been 5.7% too) | 5.60 | Not Tried | |
| Tap East - Tonic Ale | 3.00 | Not Tried | |
| One Mile End Brew Co. (formerly Mulligans at the White Hart and then WH Brew Pub) - Great Tom Mild (or Great Tom Winter Mild) | 3.80 | Not Tried | |
| Wilde Child - Outside the box | 5.70 | Not Tried | |
02 Aug 2018 (Stephen Harris)
A quick evening visit on the way back from a day trip to Hastings.
| Tap East - IPA | 6.00 | | As good as ever. |
| Bone Machine (originally cuckooed at Turning Point) - Estas Loco | 4.50 | | I didn’t note it, but I’ve a feeling this one was from a keg of some sort. Hazy gold. Chilli, lime, salt. Excellent. |
| Tap East - Coffee in the Morning (has been 5.7% too) | 5.60 | Not Tried | |
| Twisted Barrel - Sine Qua Non | 4.20 | Not Tried | |
| Tap East - Phoenix Red | 4.00 | Not Tried | |
| One Mile End Brew Co. (formerly Mulligans at the White Hart and then WH Brew Pub) - Great Tom Mild (or Great Tom Winter Mild) | 3.80 | Not Tried | |
| Little Critters - Little Hopper | 4.80 | Not Tried | |
16 Jul 2018 (Stephen Harris)
I fled here after a poor beer experience elsewhere.
| North - Lost Myself | 4.80 | | A hazy, golden Pale Ale. Fruit and pine hop flavours. |
| Ilkley - Radle Me This | 3.60 | | Pale gold. A refreshing Radler with strong grapefruit flavour. |
| Tap East - Tonic Ale | 3.00 | Not Tried | |
| Tap East - Phoenix Red | 4.00 | Not Tried | |
| Tap East - Smokestack Porter | 6.00 | Not Tried | |
07 Jul 2018 (Magnus Greel)
Mid evening fairly quiet, plenty of space to sit and watch the dying moments of Russia v Croatia. If only all operating theatres had bars in them, it would make the thought of being carved up far more appealing although the bar was filthy as was the barrel top we sat at to which my stool was broken which may have been a problem had I been more inebriated.
| Alchemy - Tropic Shake | 4.00 | | I was expecting this warm sweet flat hazy beer to be bursting with flavours instead had a slight honey taste. |
| Tap East - Coffee in the Morning (has been 5.7% too) | 5.60 | Not Tried | |
| Tap East - Smokestack Porter | 6.50 | Not Tried | |
