Visits Details
08 Oct 2013 (Stephen Harris)
I managed to visit both before and after last night’s low-key cup match. Less crowded than usual and a substantially reduced beer range for the evening.
Mighty Oak - Oak Nouveau 2013 | 4.00 | | Mighty Oak’s fresh hop beer is always keenly anticipated. Weighing in at a slightly higher strength this year. |
Slater's - Smoked Porter | 4.80 | | Very smoky, black, chocolaty beer. |
Mighty Oak - Oscar Wilde Mild | 3.70 | | Usually served here on gravity, but tonight on handpump dispense. Not sure if this was the reason, but today tasted less roasty and more winey. |
Slater's - Top Totty | 4.00 | | A golden beer. I’ve not drunk this for a while, and it was somehow not as good as I remember it. |
Slater's - Premium | 4.40 | Not Tried
RedWillow - Endless | 3.80 | Not Tried | Ran out very quickly. |
26 Sep 2013 (Stephen Harris)
It is the night of the annual Marble Brewery showcase at the Club. Doors opened at 5pm. I get here at 6:30 and it is already crowded and the beer is flowing.
Marble - Lagonda IPA | 5.00 | | After quite a bit of experimentation with the recipe, Marble have perfected their strong, golden IPA. It is pretty much my favourite style, and this example ticks every box. |
Marble - Ginger 5.1 | 5.10 | | Supercharged version of the usual Ginger Marble. |
Marble - La Petite Toulousaine | 4.70 | | Very nice, golden beer, brewed using lemongrass and honey. |
Marble - Manchester Bitter | 4.20 | Not Tried
Mighty Oak - Oscar Wilde Mild | 3.70 | Not Tried
Marble - Pint (was 3.9%) | 3.40 | Not Tried | This popular beer had run out in the first hour, before I even arrived. |

Hackney - Best Bitter | 4.40 | Not Tried
Hackney - Golden Ale | 4.00 | Not Tried
Marble - IALE | 3.70 | Not Tried | Curses, this special beer ran out before I got my hands on any. |
