13 May 2026 (Magnus Greel)
A small group of us kindly invited by the chap who runs the LOSC (also FEG/NESW group member) to help finish off beer stock @ a bargain £2pp. We enjoyed the exclusivity and relaxed atmosphere compared to last weeks frenetic visit.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Wylam - Best Bitter4.50ExceptionalDelicate and sweet with a toast malt complexity echoed squarely with a clean floral flush of ripe berry fruit, toffee and bitter orange peel.
Iron Pier - Mosaic & Harlequin Joined At The Hop3.80GoodPeach, pineapple and passionfruit notes with a complex bitterness.
Great Beyond - Hoxton Gold4.30GoodSmooth & creamy with a grainy hoppy toasty flavour.
Brass Castle - Black Mill4.30GoodA dry bitter roasty coffee stout rather than a sweet decadent silky smooth experience.
07 May 2026 (Magnus Greel)
We arrived around 30 minutes before 16.00 opening in order to secure a table as the place fills up quickly on ale nights and was standing room only half hour after..
BeerABVScoreNotes

Lunchtime and three of us enjoyed the exclusivety of personal invites by the bar manager who's a friend of ours to finish off some very good ales at half price that wouldn't keep until the next home game.
BeerABVScoreNotes

Burning Sky - Plateau (was 3.5%)3.40ExcellentPale gold in colour, with a crisp malt edge and sharp bitterness.
13 May 2022 (Magnus Greel)
My first visit to this much celebrated real ale venue with a few Friday Evening Group friends on one of the pub's ale nights for an enjoyable evening session. I was hoping to say hello to P&B legend Stephen Harris but sadly enquiries revealed he wasn't in tonight.
