Sadly closed, peering though the windows revealed the interior in the process of being gutted.

We found out the hard way that this pub now opens at 4pm (one of the problems of using a 2011 local guide book) so we went up the road to the Lion and returned once the pub was open. A good welcoming pub. The full beer list was as already entered by Jason.
Wentworth - Lincoln Imperial Ale | 3.80 | | Superb session beer. I am becoming quite a fan of Wentworth ales. |

I had read in a new edition of the local CAMRA magazine that Shipstone's Nottingham Bitter was being brewed by former Shippo's brewer Colin Brown at the Belvoir Brewery, and I thought that this would be a good place to try and find it. Fortunately I guessed correctly and was told that he may start brewing in part of the old Shipstone's Brewery next door. It will be interesting to see if this happens, I hope it does.
Belvoir - Shipstone's Original Amber Bitter | 3.80 | | A good tasty proper bitter that I would have thought was a I am sure it is a good match for the old Shippo's but it very many years since I last drank it that I can't say for certain. |

A big party going on in the function room, but rest of pub was quiet on a Saturday afternoon.
Nottingham - Rock Mild | 3.80 | | A good sample here of this black mild. Intense roast and chocolate malt flavours giving quite a bitter kick to the beer, but a little caramel to take the edge off. A little hop in the finish. My score 16/20. |

I really enjoyed this place, but it was sad to see the old Shipstone's Brewery no longer used for its intended purpose.

Oldershaw - Grantham Dark | 3.60 | | Excellent quality here, giving a smooth well rounded taste to this ruby mild. Sweetish caramel and toffee malt flavours are tempered by a little hoppiness in the finish. My score 16/20. |

Belvoir - Dark Horse | 3.40 | | Very bitter from roast/burnt malt flavours. Not normally as bitter as this so hope it's just a one off. My score 14/20 (normally gets 16-17). |
