Thought we’d treat ourselves to a classy lunch. Seated outside in the shade with very good food and service. Not the place for session drinking though! Have to confess that I had a Bear Island (Sheps) triple hopped lager that went very well with the fish dish.

I remember being taken here by my parents back in the 1960s or possibly even the late 50s and have memories of dark wood, serving hatches and a proper pub. What a transformation, not my cup of tea, I had a quick pint and moved on. Basically a gastro-restaurant with a small bar area and the dreaded pastel shade paintwork.

Radio 2 was playing Graeme Norton when I walked in. The pub was empty but then it was only 11:40 am. A man resembling Doc Brown from Back to the Future came in looking for "Dave" and when he found he wasn't here, he exclamed his disbelief and left, leaving me with Greame Norton.

The Dog has a micro plan downstairs but unfortunately for me they'd had a busy Christmas and as a result were about 4 days away from having the new batch ready. I was told they usually had 1 or 2 of their own beer on. Friendly pub.

It was empty as far as I could tell
BeerABVScoreNotes
Shepherd Neame - Master Brew Bitter3.70AcceptableToo cold which killed the hoppyness. The most remarkable thing about this beer was its price: £2.80 a pint.

Fairly quiet but had a good atmosphere, which might have been helped by all the smoke (but then we were in the smoking room)

The public bar was busy with local baseball capped youths with the smaller lounge bar empty.

Eagle (formerly Wells & Young's, formerly Charles Wells, formerly Wells) - Wells Bombardier (now superseded by 4.1% version)4.30AcceptableA weird one. The first taste was Bombardier but then it just vanished. What the hell they'd done to this pint we'll never know

After a half of London Pride in the Anchor and some unforgettable beer in the Red Lion in Wingham. Went into the sallon Bar as it seemed less busy.

When on a lunch time session but as I was driving I couldn't drink. The pub was quiet but it was a Monday. The majority of the space is laid up for eating but there is one dedicated drinking bar and half the middle bar is reserved for drinkers. The landlord had only taken over recently and was very friendly. The menu is extensive but more restraunt than bar-snacks
