6th visit of the outing: My first ever visit to this Thorley Taverns-run "traditional pub" very close to Broadstairs Station. Thorley Taverns used to run 50 odd pubs in their heyday and launched by a family from London's Bermondsey who used to holiday here. Their first ever pub was The Charles Dickens in Broadstairs which backs onto the Sonder. We ventured into here as there was a little rain shower between our walk between the Magnet and our next on the list, the Four Candles' micropub. This is an old Victorian pub where you can neither see in nor see out. This is not because they have bricked up their windows or have been short of a window cleaner but instead currently have their Halloween pictures stuck over every downstairs' window. Surprisingly for a Thorley pub, they only have one real ale on, whereas they have had on my visits to a few of their other pubs at least two. Thankfully here a local ale was on and Gadds' as a bonus. Surprisingly, too, it was ticking over with a good few in and dotted around a very extensive horseshoe-shaped bar.

Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - HPA Hoppy Pale Ale3.60GoodThis came with very good head and lacing and lasting from Gadds' brewery but a 20 minute walk-away. A mildly fruity first hit aided by its citrusy US hops. A dry hoppiness rising accompanied by a fruity note or two and ebbing out.

My train arrived 15 mins before Ian's bus so I popped in here because I spotted a Gadds' triangular pump clip. Big octagonal centre bar.

Started our pub crawl here at around 7.30. Pub was a lot busier than a week before, thursday night seems like the night to be out in Broadstairs.

Decided to try Broadstairs on a wednesday night, judging by this place it may have been a mistake. We were the only ones in other than the bar staff. Sat in the back terrace and supped out pints.
