15:50 First came here in 1989 when it was the sample room for visitors to the Courage brewery. Very busy today as the pub was celebrating St George's Day with gusto. A large group entered the pub at the same time as us and there were lots of "Happy St George's Day" greetings exchanged with the Landlord. The big screen was showing the film Battle of Britain. Without a doubt the pub was buzzing and the atmosphere was superb. Had a chat with the Guvnor, great bloke.

Evening's first visit here tonight. Well crowded and lots of comings and goings so must be on a circuit.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Waen - Mistletoe & Waen6.00AcceptableA so called blackberry infused port stout but someone had skimped on the blackberry. Came up with a lively head that almost immediately disappeared. Needed more natural carbonation to make this quaffable so it was hard going

The pub is found in Bristol, Avon, BS1 6EN.

Small pub with seating down the length of the main bar and a limited number of tables at each end. Difficult to find but is located behind the fire station and slightly set back from the road. Very CAMRA oriented and gives a real ale discount for card carrying CAMRA members. Front outside seating area and a side garden with shale chippings on the ground and a set out petanque pitch. Long narrow marquee is often set up to the right hand side of the pub for a weatherproof yet outside experience. 10 handpumps on the counter and a range of ciders from boxes. The licensees here once ran the Crown & Thistle in Gravesend when it won CAMRA's National Pub of the Year.

We have visited this pub 19 times, seen 86 different beers and tried 25 of them.
