Visits Details

08 May 2019 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening visit until midnight close. The annoying feature here is the aggressive tactics used to get everyone out before even the usually expected 20 minutes drinking up time.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Marston's - Saddle Tank3.80ExcellentSuperbly quaffable. Who could ask for more than today's mid brown bitter offering? Closing time came far too early

Evening visit until midnight closed. Absolutely packed, a madhouse of sound and drinking. How come just one handpump serving one ale left for sale?

Evening visit until midnight close. Very busy tonight. Still too much emphasis on nagging urging to leave after closing time.

09 Dec 2018 (Philip Pirrip)
Late evening visit until midnight close. Uncleared mucky tables and bar counter plus overzealous plastic glasses wielding staff pressurising for a 15 minutes past midnight all out (instead of the 20 past usual in every other SE London Spoon's) ruined what was otherwise friendly bar staff and excellent ales.

Another un-planned Wetherspoon Festival-ticking venture. Early evening and not very busy.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Lancaster - Chestnut Red4.50GoodSweet redcurrant flavours. Chestnut flavour more elusive. Some spice.

Mid-evening. The clientele tonight seems mostly to consist of students.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Black Sheep - Bighorn4.50GoodGolden and full-bodied. In an IPA style, with both UK and US hop flavours on a solid malt background.
Brains - Phonics4.10AcceptableA slightly odd mixture of caramel malt and citrus hop tastes. Lingering lemony bitter finish.
