Another web site stated that this pub opens at 10:00 on Saturdays, it does not so we sat on a bench on the village green for about 30 minutes until 12:00 opening. A very enjoyable visit with friendly management and staff.

Lunchtime visit, I had never been here before and made the mistake of alighting from the bus at Windmill Lane, which is a very long way from Windmill Road. The bar was fairly quiet but there were people eating in a separate area of the pub, and several enjoying beer and sandwiches in the garden. One of the two barmen on duty was very enthusiastic about beer. The prices were good for the area (£3.40 for Larkins)and I was especially pleased that both my pints and my half pint were served in lined oversize glasses.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Larkins - Traditional3.40ExcellentA good start to the day.
Hastings - Hastings Porter4.50ExcellentVery good, but unfortunately I only had time for a half pint.
360° - West Coast IPA5.60GoodVery well kept pint but not up to my expectations for an American style IPA.

Busy Wednesday lunchtime, but they managed to find a table for the two of us. Food was excellent as usual. Three courses for £13.90.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Dark Star - Original5.00ExcellentSuperb.
Hastings - Hastings Blonde3.90ExcellentReplaced the Plateau and I was brought a taster to apologise for the condition of the Plateau. After this it would have been rude not to have a half.
Long Man - Copper Hop4.20ExcellentIn excellent condition.
Burning Sky - Plateau (was 3.5%)3.40UndrinkableI had the last of the barrel which was murky and sour. This was replaced straightaway with the Long Man Copper.

Friday lunchtime visit to the newly announced West Kent CAMRA Pub of the Year 2014. Everything about this pub says "we look after the customer". Good food at sensible prices, over sized glasses so you always get a pint, proper glasses for half pints (and thirds) so those who are beer "challenged" don't have to drink out of hotel toothbrush glasses, a careful consideration of the types of real ale available so most style tastes are catered for - I could go on. I would also like to add I have no connection with the owners.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Burning Sky - Plateau (was 3.5%)3.40ExcellentI had a pint from the end of a barrel which was not top form. It was replaced immediately with one from the next barrel in the cellar whilst the line was cleaned.
