1200 and already busy with diners and drinkers around the bar area, the four of us were soon joined by more to kick off a friends retirement do pub crawl.

Early Monday evening visit. I had hoped to have a bit of a look round and maybe take some photos, but the pub was packed and I ended up out on the pavement. This is a tourist part of London in the evenings. London is not short of tourists these days and I was to discover today that they do like their pub dinners.

But it’s been treading water for a long time whilst crisper, tastier, more contemporary, refreshing beers have come along. Now seems a bit bland. |

The pub is found in Paddington, Central London, W2 2NH.
Very impressive pub with a wealth of original features. Located in Strathearn Place some 5 or 6 minutes brisk walk from Paddington railway station. 5 handpumps on the downstairs bar counter. Has upstairs "The Theatre Bar" and "The Library" rooms. Local CAMRA branch Pub of the Year 2024.
We have visited this pub 4 times, seen 11 different beers and tried 4 of them.
