Have not been for quite a while. We arrived soon after opening time and there were a few in, but it was quite busy by the time we left, having enjoyed our sizeable portion of oap fish and chips.

Cycled here for lunchtime. Despite the grim surroundings and a rather blustery day the pub was thriving. I have only been here once before, many years ago. It has definitely gone up-market, very food oriented but a good vibe nonetheless. I stoked up with a “medium” (but substantial) skate and chips for my 40 mile return trip. Also an excellent APA from Romney on at 5.0%, B17 Sleepytime Gal - named after a WWII Flying Fortress - part of which is displayed outside.

Arrived at noon and the place was already very busy and stayed that way throughout our visit. We enjoyed our cod and chips and had pleasant service.

Two of us were travelling in a preserved London Transport RF bus from New Romney to Dungeness and back when we had a word with the conductor and driver to see if we could be dropped off at the Pilot and picked up 30 minutes later on their way back. This was agreed, and as they are all dedicated Harvey's drinkers they were quite envious when we told them how good the Harvey's was in the pub. The pub itself was like a huge fish and chips café with beer, but it does retain some nice original features such as Ringing the Bull although it would have been impossible to play with a family (including small baby) sitting at a table in front of the bull.

We went with my granddaughter for a fish and chip meal - the pub speciality - at just after noon when the place was busy. About 10 minutes later the place was packed. Our meal was fine.

14:30 visit. Came here via a classic bus and the RH&D Light Railway, as part of their annual bus rally. First visit and busy as ever with diners on what was a really pleasant day out all round. The steam railway ride was pure nostalgia too.

We arrived at 12:30 and the place was already busy and by the time we left after a very satisfying fish and chips around an hour later there was not a seat to be had in the place. Pleasant and helpful service.
