We popped in for a quick one and stayed a bit longer than planned as the heavens opened up. A nice pub.

Evening until close. 6 handpumps and 2 had Cottage beers on - presume a good discounted sales job by that brewery.

Early evening. Some legal types in with something to celebrate. I had to ask the barman to go down to the cellar to find out what the Hackney Brewery beer was called – they just had a generic Hackney pumpclip showing without the beer name or strength filled in – the lack of info did not seem to be stopping people from ordering it though.

Dry, red/brown and spicy. A little bit thin. The barman insisted the beer strength was 4.4% (5.0% last year).

Pleased to see CAMRA’s Champion Winter Beer on sale in here – so pleased in fact that I ignored the two London-brewed beers, which is unusual for me. 10% CAMRA discount claimed.

14:45 Fairly busy. Interesting chat with the Manager. He focuses on beers from London brewers and SIBA members.

The pub is found in Fleet Street, Central London, EC4Y 1AA.
This pub was established in 1549 as the Cock & Bottle and stood on the north side of Fleet Street until demolished in 1887 to accommodate the building of the Bank of England branch (itself now a pub). The Cock was rebuilt across the road on its current site and the present half-timbered façade dates from a 1912 revamp. Formerly a Truman’s Brewery pub, it has been branded as a ‘Taylor Walker’ pub since 2010. Supposedly the narrowest frontage of any London pub. It opens out into a large single room pub with a long bar against the left hand wall. Also has mezzanine and first floor drinking areas. 6 handpumps.
We have visited this pub 5 times, seen 18 different beers and tried 5 of them.
