I like this pub, I used it today as a waiting room to fill the time between alighting from my bus and the Butchers opening time. Mostly local regular trade here this afternoon. The pub was in the process of being decorated for All Hallows Eve.

About 11:50 and time for a swift half whilst waiting for the Butchers Arms to open at 12:00. A nice pub but spoiled by the television showing This Morning on ITV and discussions about peoples personal problems and relationships, not the sort of programme that I want to watch at any time.

We arrived early for our friend's birthday do opposite so popped in here for a pre lunchtime half. Daytime TV dominated however I doubt for the customers benefit.

Morning visit and not many in at this time of day. I picked up a copy of a tabloid newspaper and tried to find some news in it, I gave up and watched the news on the pub's television instead.

Having had lunch with Andrew and Jane, I was thinking about what I could do on my return back to Ashford, and as I don't get to come to Herne that often, it seemed to be a wasted chance not to stop off here on my way back. Haven't been to this pub for a long time. Newish public bar with pool to the left, lovely old lounge bar with fire and dark wood to the right. Friendly landlady.
Princetown - Best Bitter (aka Dartmoor IPA) | 4.00 | | Part of Sheps beer festival where they have a guest beer on. Dusty beer, wood shavings. Not great, but with some citrus hops on the end. |
