Came for a meal. Not been here for a long time but the food was really good, as was the beer.
Canterbury Ales (sometimes badged as Canterbrew) - The Friar's Ale | 4.30 | | A good outting. |
Timothy Taylor - Boltmaker (formerly Best Bitter) | 4.00 | Not Tried
Hop Back - GFB (sometimes GB) | 3.50 | Not Tried

Busy but we got a sofa seat. There was a Harvey's pump clip turned round - which was a shame.
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - London Pride | 4.10 | | Tasted very thin - not much like the London Pride I knew. It was perfectly drinkable but just thin. |
Sharp's - Doom Bar | 4.00 | Not Tried
Adnams - Lighthouse | 3.40 | Not Tried

Isabel had a early evening thing on in Blean so I could either sit around there for an hour or I could come here and sit around. Two Canterbury Ales on! I made the right choice. Winner!
Canterbury Ales (sometimes badged as Canterbrew) - The Pardoner's Ale | 3.80 | | Umm my kind of beer. Nettley bitter leaf hop in a watery, red fruit body. So drinkable. |
Sharp's - Doom Bar | 4.00 | Not Tried
Canterbury Ales (sometimes badged as Canterbrew) - The Miller's Ale (originally 4.5%) | 4.20 | Not Tried

Saturday lunchtime - quite busy in all three areas pool/TV room, restaurant and the bar. Haven't been here for decades, the saloon bar used to have a safari theme! Nice pub but rather a disappointing beer selection.
Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter | 4.00
Greene King - IPA (was 3.6%) | 3.40 | Not Tried
Sharp's - Doom Bar | 4.00 | Not Tried

There's a little shack in the car park that sells asparagus and visiting that was our real goal. However, if you find yourself in the car park of a pub it would be rude not to pop-in for a swifty. There were a few people in the bar and a few in the garden. Good beer line-up I thought.
Dark Star - Hophead was 3.8% (some has also been brewed by Fuller's) | 3.40 | | Hazy and with a sharp taste to it that wasn't quite vinegar (otherwise I'd have taken it back). I didn't finish it. |
Vale - Edgar's Golden Ale | 4.30 | Not Tried
Sharp's - Doom Bar | 4.00 | Not Tried
Old Dairy (being contract brewed after it closed) - Gold Top | 4.30 | Not Tried

There were 3 other customers in when I arrived about 12.30am. The pubs interior is very well maintained with a pistachio, red sealing wax, cream colour scheme. The front of the pub is divided into 3 seating areas and the rear of the pub has a pool table. There’s also a small patio at the rear that overlooks fields. From the pump-clips behind the bar they obviously get some interesting guests in (like, Moorhouses Black Cat and Gadd’s No. 3).
Shepherd Neame - Master Brew Bitter | 3.70 | | In good condition. I’ve had Master Brew quite a few time in the last few weeks and nearly all of them (including this one) seemed to have had a slightly burnt sugar and twiglet flavour to the finish. Not unpleasant but a little odd. |
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - ESB | 5.50 | Not Tried | The guest beer |
