| Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter | 4.00 | ![]() | Presented with good head and lasting lacing on this amber-coloured East Sussex Best Bitter introduced in 1955 during the post-war rationing period in the historic market town of Lewes and whose brewery was founded in 1790, and brewing at Bridge Wharf, Lewes, from 1838. A fruited bitter first hit. A hop-infused fruit or two rising from its dried fruit infusions alongside its nuts and marmalade flavours. Its hops are from four varieties of local whole-leaf hops sourced from Sussex, Kent, and Surrey. Typically these are Fuggles, Goldings, Progress and Bramling Cross. A gentle maltiness rearing up from its Maris Otter malted barley with hints of toffee and caramel for good measure. A dry fruited bitterness paddling out. In good nick as undoubtedly the best head and lacing of this outing. |
