Mid afternoon and wrong order as no Internet connection available, sadly very quiet just one other chap at the bar however a friendly welcome the barman pointed out late red was available despite not being marked up.
Shepherd Neame - Late Red | 4.50 | | As expected nutty malty brown ale with a subtle clove hint. |

About 18:30 and the pub was starting to get busy with diners. The bar staff informed me that they have a cask of Summer Sizzler in the cellar waiting to go on, and that Master Brew is usually available. Unfortunately the pub does not seem to provide menus so it was necessary to squeeze past about twenty prospective diners trying to read a blackboard to make my way to the toilet.

A quiet pub with just a few guys sitting at the bar. The best atmosphere was in the garden and provided by a few guys and a CD player in a Ford Fiesta in the car park.
Various beer mats of different real ales on the wall were a false promise of the beers on offer.
Shepherd Neame - Early Bird | 4.30 | | An average beer at best, much like most of Shep's offerings. Fairly lifeless and served just a bit too cold. |
Shepherd Neame - Master Brew Bitter | 3.70 | Not Tried
Shepherd Neame - Spitfire (or Spitfire Amber Ale) | 4.20 | Not Tried

A few couples were in the saloon bar with a couple of blokes sitting at the bar. It was quiet with a slightly impersonal air to it. I was last here 7 years ago and since then it's changed hands a few times and one of those recently going by the 'new management' sign by the door.
Shepherd Neame - Porter | 4.80 | | Black with a frothy head that didn't last the distance (which is standard with Kent's hard-water beers). A burnt flavour dominates with occasional hints of blackcurrant if you look for them. Not a complex beer by any stretch of the imagination. |
Shepherd Neame - Master Brew Bitter | 3.70 | Not Tried

Real fire and 4 beers on including Hopdaemon Golden Braid and Incubus, Harveys Best and Gadd's No. 7.
Hopdaemon - Incubus | 4.00 | | Again a bit below its best |
Hopdaemon - Golden Braid | 3.70 | | A bit too cold and not with its normal hoppy bite |

Quiet on a Friday lunchtime. Food is a bit expensive compared with normal pub prices, but is well prepared. Beer is in excellent condition. Both Hopdaemon Golden Braid and Incubus were outstanding. Flavours were sharp and precise.
Hopdaemon - Golden Braid | 3.70 | | Golden session beer. Hops to the fore. Just so well made, you wonder why other brewers can't make beer this good. |
Hopdaemon - Incubus | 4.00 | | A more rounded beer than Golden Braid. Has everything. A zing of hops with excellent malt. A mid brown beer that has depth of flavour and makes you stare at the beer after each sip and admire the craftmanship |
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 5 | 4.40 | Not Tried
Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter | 4.00 | Not Tried

Nice real fire and sofa
Hopdaemon - Golden Braid | 3.70 | | Refreshing, typical Hopdeamon hops and yeast bringing a very drinkable session bitter |
Hopdaemon - Incubus | 4.00 | | Quickly becoming Hopdeamon's best beer (yes even better than Skrimshander) Excellent fruit and bitterness |
