In need of lunchtime sustenance my wife and I dropped in and had very good fish and chips served by the landlord who told us he had been there a year. There were a number of people eating in the restaurant area.

Tuesday lunchtime. Three tables of eaters. Just me at the bar. Sky sports news blaring out in the middle area (where no one was sitting). Piped music competing from behind the bar. Served pleasantly.

Came for my dad's birthday. Not been here for years but looked the same even though the landlord had changed.

We had heard that this pub was under new management again and thought we ought to try it out. We arrived fairly early for lunch and were the only ones in for half an hour or so but by the time we left an hour or so later there were a number of tables occupied. We had a good meal especially so as main course meals were half price for OAPs; sweets were good too at full price. All food was prepared by the landlord chef with whom we had a friendly chat before we left.

Haven't visited for almost 2 years. Perhaps being a Monday, it was very quiet as we were the only lunchtime visitors whilst we were there. There were new owners who had taken over about 4 months ago. We had a tasty meal.

The pub is found in Brook, Kent, TN25 5PG.

Allegedly built in 1609 this is an ancient house located in The Street. In 1804, the house was given the title the "Honest Miller", the significance of which dates back to the Saxons when a miller cheated the Romans by giving them a short measure. His ears were cut off as a penance and warning to others. After this millers not wishing to fall into the same category as their luckless and earless colleague hung a sign stating they were "Honest Millers". The pub has had many owners over the years. Re-opened in July 2024 after a period of 4 years or so of closure and changing ownership. Early signs are that it might not be selling cask ales.

We have visited this pub 86 times, seen 36 different beers and tried 28 of them.
