2nd stop for the Coldred tour. My first time here, quite impressed. There appeared to be a wake in the rear function room. Our group of 10 all ate. Good food at reasonable prices. Ales ok too.

Early evening quiet inside most folk enjoying the sun trap rear garden. Chatty bar staff kept us occupied while we sat in the bar. Disappointed I missed the Double Ghost IPA after ordering the ubiquitous Southwold.
| Adnams - Double Ghost IPA | 5.20 | | A taster revealed a zesty refreshingly bitter and hoppy fare most unlike Adnams usual malty gloop. |
| Adnams - Southwold Bitter | 3.70 | | Bland unexciting malty toffee fare |

Echoing ChrisE's review 3.5 years ago am pleased to reassure the thrifty minded that the price has only gone up by 10p. Sadly just the one cask ale today but 3 more on the tempting 'coming soon' list.
| Canterbury Ales (sometimes badged as Canterbrew) - The Pardoner's Ale | 3.80 | | A sweet dry malty plummy fruity fare with light carbonation |

My first visit since this pub has been owned and run by the community. I had heard various reports about it being gastro and expensive with beer at £5 per pint. I was pleasantly surprised, they seem to have done a good job here and the beer was £4 per pint.
There are four handpumps, at the time of my visit two of them had the clips turned round but I had a look and they were for Gadds' No.5 and Black Pearl, hopefully these will be coming soon.
| Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter | 4.00 | | |
| Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - London Pride | 4.10 | Not Tried | |

Saturday lunchtime and there were a few people in having lunch and a couple playing the fruit-machine. There were 4 hand pumps on the bar but only one badged up. Anyway, I liked the pub.
| Greene King - IPA (was 3.6%) | 3.40 | | Good ballance of malt and hops with a pleasant yeastyness to it. |
