A friend of mine is the barman here and I was going to his later for a bottled beer tasting so thought I would come here for the festival ales and also some lunch.

| Palm - Steenbrugge Blond | 6.00 | | Decent Belgian blond, some spice, some good rose petal fruit and plenty of estery fruit with a Belgian yeast aroma. I could have had more than the half I had. |

Tom (MagicDave6) who is the cellar manager here had an Oakham festival on so what could I do? Met up with some Ratebeerians including Bobinlondon who like me likes to cycle around central London. OK it's a 'Spoons, but the breakfast and roast chicken were both tasty and drinking Attila at £1.69 a pint is pure insanity.

| Oakham - JHB | 3.80 | | Many of the beers only had a few pints left according to Tom apart from the JHB which was fresh on and in fantastic form. Just how I remembered it on top form in The Mogul in Dover and why I got into micro breweries in the first place. |
| Oakham - Asylum | 4.50 | | The barrel changed mid afternoon and this is for the second pint of this I had then. Wow this is some kinda beer. Good citrus fruits and excellent body. Bit toasty somewhere. |
| Oakham - Attila | 7.50 | | Strong hop aroma and surprisingly peachy on the fruit. Mixing this and JHB half and half was perfect. Oh and England beat the stuffing out of the French at rugby in the Six Nations. |

Tom (Magic_Dave6 from Ratebeer.com) is the cellarman here. We met up in central London and we came here to try some of the festival beers. Given how much Tom knows about keeping a good cellar, we could count on having the beers in really good condition.

| Mikkeller - Viking's Return | 4.50 | | I had been a little disappointed by this the night before at the Crosse Keys launch event but this was better. This beer is all about the malts, which are excellent, big and bold with a good grapefruit hoppy undercurrent. |
| Shepherd Neame - Fuggles Kentish Pale Ale | 4.40 | | This really is surprisingly good. Some Sheps yeast on the aroma, but the body of the beer and the hops in particular make this a really good session beer. |
| Greene King - Bonkers Conkers | 4.10 | | Copper colour, GK yeast aroma, some malt in mouth. It's an undistinguished bitter with some citrus hop on the end. |

Turn left out of the delightful Art Deco tube station and the pub is on the Chase Side a couple of hundred yards up on the right. Typical open one room town centre Wetherspoon's pub, formally a small Sainsbury.
