Busy mid afternoon with folk everywhere, including a few pre halloween skeletons dotted about with one perched at the bar, to which I asked the jovial barmaid if he'd been waiting a while to be served!

Saturday lunchtime: we'd come in search of the Magna Cartas and Kent Green Hop Ale:success on both fronts.We sat in the little courtyard by the river, where the barman fussed our dogs.

Late afternoon - following the coastal cycle route - I was gratefully corrected by a gent - Andy - who had been instrumental in helping to set up National route 1 - it comes off the coast here and heads towards Canterbury. I of course needed route 15 to continue towards Thanet!

Lunchtime on a wintry Saturday . We came to be fortified by the Carribean cookery before braving the arctic wind. Beer choice seemed to be seasonally limited.Grand pub.

Early evening, we needed to eat so we came to this part of Sandwich with three pubs on the road junction, we chose this one. A good selection of ales (I have not listed them all) and some very nice food.

Boy was I ready for a pint when I got here after a hot but enjoyable hike around Pegwell Bay from Ramsgate. Busy with Sunday lunch trade and it was a case of having to prop up the bar.

15:30 & 15:45 Had a real problem getting served. On my first attempt I assumed I had donned a cloak of invisibility. Went back because I wanted to try the new house beer. Service only slightly better.

Found opposite the Admiral Owen in High Street. Very pleasant old building and an enthusiastic landlord. By the Barbican and old toll bridge over the River Stour. Low ceilings, wooden beams and brick walls create an old world feel. 6 handpumps.
