I walked down after work. Nice walk, in a dusk like light, with an eerie sunset and rain out to sea. The Saxon Shore was quite busy, mainly with people who I'm guessing were retired, but with post-work people starting to drift in.
| Acorn - Old Moor Porter | 4.40 | | Smooth, creamy, slightly roasted, low hopping but with a black pepper hop finish. And all for £2.20 a pint. |
| Greene King - IPA (was 3.6%) | 3.40 | Not Tried | |
| Greene King - Abbot | 5.00 | Not Tried | |
| Sharp's - Doom Bar | 4.00 | Not Tried | |
| Frome (formerly Milk Street) - Funky Monkey (organic) | 4.00 | Not Tried | |
| Marston's - Wychwood Hobgoblin Gold | 4.20 | Not Tried | |

A swift visit, mainly because I wanted to see if the Dorset beer was any good. Some screaming kids came in so we moved to the front of the pub.
| Kirkstall - Three Swords | 4.50 | | Pale gold. Very drinkable. Citrus hops but not too strong. Yeah. I would happily drink this all night |
| Dorset Brewing Company - Jurassic | 4.20 | | It's okay. Bit apple like, bit vegetable. |
| Greene King - IPA (was 3.6%) | 3.40 | Not Tried | |
| Greene King - Abbot | 5.00 | Not Tried | |
| Sharp's - Doom Bar | 4.00 | Not Tried | |
| Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Jaipur | 5.90 | Not Tried | |

I wanted a pint of beer for £1.89 so I could pretend it was 1995 again. The price didn't let me down; the beer though, did. Still, the Rudgate beer was good.
| Rudgate - Evil Elf | 4.00 | | I liked this. Slightly fruity, mid pale gold beer. |
| Greene King - IPA (was 3.6%) | 3.40 | | In good condition but the beer was like drinking caramel sherbet with a ash like bitterness |
| Greene King - Abbot | 5.00 | Not Tried | |
| Sharp's - Doom Bar | 4.00 | Not Tried | |
| Brains - The Rev James Original | 4.50 | Not Tried | |
| Greene King - Hardys & Hansons Rocking Rudolph | 4.20 | Not Tried | |

A largely older crowd in. Not too busy.
| Elgood's - Young Henrys Newtowner | 3.50 | | Downable pale brown bitter. Hint of citrus, quite mild really |
| Evan Evans - Storm Runner | 4.40 | | Creamy light brown. Low hopping but odd. It had 4 different hops (progress, northdown, perle, preminant). Maybe one too many? |
| Moorhouse's - Quintessent | 4.80 | | Pale gold. Odd flavours |
| Greene King - IPA (was 3.6%) | 3.40 | Not Tried | |
| Greene King - Abbot | 5.00 | Not Tried | |
| Sharp's - Doom Bar | 4.00 | Not Tried | |

I saw they had on the Alesmith beer that Ian had been telling me about, so I came for a half.
| Oakham - AleSmith IPA | 6.00 | | Wow. Well it hides its 6% brilliantly. Has a wheat-beer like body with a mottled DIPA alpha acid hit. It's fruity - like the fruit salad chews from the 80's. The finish is odd. It's very base-boil bitter but not as intense as the high alpha acid count would make you expect. I wouldn't want more than a half, but then it's not really my style of beer. |
| Adnams - Broadside | 4.70 | Not Tried | |
| Greene King - IPA (was 3.6%) | 3.40 | Not Tried | |
| Greene King - Abbot | 5.00 | Not Tried | |
| Sharp's - Doom Bar | 4.00 | Not Tried | |
| Brains - The Rev James Original | 4.50 | Not Tried | |
| Exmoor (now brewed by Hogs Back) - Dark | 4.20 | Not Tried | |

Fancied a pint and saw on the app jaipur was on...and only £1.79 with a voucher. Bargain. Only 2 guests on.
| Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Jaipur | 5.90 | | Usual jaipur flavours but not as good as the offering at the RVP. |

Busy. Thursday curry night perhaps?
| Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Jaipur | 5.90 | | I don't particularly like this beer but it was in good condition and I'm told, excellent. |

Late morning. All day breakfasts going down well. About 5 ales on.
| Inveralmond - Ossian | 4.10 | | Struggled to find much flavour or body although there was a dry bitter aftertaste. |

Great beer range, and the lady serving was friendly and offered us tasters without us asking
