Larkins was on. What more of an excuse do you need to visit. It started raining just as we entered and we had a chat with a local about it, as you do.
| Larkins - Best Bitter | 4.40 | | Larkins do caramel-malt really well. Condition was a little flat, but still very drinkable. |
| Mad Cat - Ninth Life (a.k.a. 9th Life) | 5.90 | Not Tried | |
| Chislet - Captain's Garden | 3.50 | Not Tried | |
22 Apr 2026 (Magnus Greel)
We arrived around 10 minutes after 13.00 opening, one other chap in soon joined by a few others during our hour or so's stay. Friendly and welcoming as always here.
| Chislet - Nethergong | 5.00 | | A caramel sweetness with a fruity yeasty profile and creamy texture. |
| Goffs - M&S Pale | 4.30 | | Heavily hopped tropical hazy fare with a hint of coconut. |
| Wantsum - Ravening Wolf | 5.90 | Not Tried | |

About 2. Two groups enjoying the ambience. Found a local history book with hundreds of nicknames of old fishermen etc. from Whitstable, very amusing.

| Goacher's - Real Mild Ale | 3.40 | Not Tried | |
| Rother Valley - Level Best | 4.00 | Not Tried | |
| Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - She Sells Sea Shells | 4.70 | Not Tried | |
13 Nov 2025 (Andrew)
A fairly swift visit. Very busy early evening. I think it was someone's birthday.
| Larkins - Green Hop Best | 4.00 | | A really good beer. Juicy green hop bite with a sherbet hop finish |
| Canterbury Ales (sometimes badged as Canterbrew) - The Pardoner's Ale (superseded by 3.8% version) | 4.10 | Not Tried | |
| Chislet - Island Road | 4.50 | Not Tried | |
10 Jul 2025 (Jack William)
Bus pass outing, Icycled! Opened at noon for us by arrangement. Nicely busy by 1:30. The garden is looking good and the bat and trap pitch is now in regular use as the pub is in a league.
| Canterbury Ales (sometimes badged as Canterbrew) - The Wife of Bath's Ale | 3.90 | | Full bodied and in top condition. |
| Mad Cat - Platinum Blonde (previously Meaney's Platinum Blonde Ale) | 4.20 | | Very pale, subtle. |
| Northdown - Cali Ray | 5.50 | | Not sure if this was unfined - certainly a bit hazy, but pleasant enough. |
20 Apr 2025 (Jack William)
Easter Sunday lunch meet up with a few cyclist chums. Nice and warm out of the cold wind. Pleasantly busy.
| Mad Cat - Platinum Blonde (previously Meaney's Platinum Blonde Ale) | 4.20 | | Very refreshing pale ale in top condition. |
| Elgood's - Golden Newt | 4.60 | | Good mouthfeel on this golden ale - I thought it had a hint of almond? |
| Iron Pier - Burton Ale | 4.20 | | A traditional Burton style bitter going down very well with my companions. |
15 Mar 2025 (Jack William)
Saturday early afternoon. Quiet with 4 or 5 in. Rugby on a large TV - not quite the traditional micro pub experience.
They are offering a flight of three thirds here now for £4.70.
| Northdown - Bitter Seas | 4.20 | | Flat and thin. Turns out it was the penultimate pint in the cask. |
| Mighty Oak - Maldon Gold | 3.80 | Not Tried | |
| Pig & Porter - Got The Face On | 4.50 | Not Tried | Should have gone for this |
28 Dec 2024 (Jack William)
First one in just after noon. A jolly local in bright purple trainers arrived shortly after.

| Pig & Porter - Funky Claude Porter | 5.00 | Not Tried | |
27 Nov 2024 (Jack William)
Mid afternoon. Half a dozen others in. Very pleasant. There will be a mini beer festival this weekend (29/11 to 1/12) to celebrate the first anniversary of this rather good micro.
| Kent - Local Hero | 3.40 | | Great condition and a terrific body that punched well above its ABV. |
| Chislet - Island Road | 4.50 | | Rather disappointed with this - rather bland with little life in it. |
| Front Row - Crouch | 3.80 | Not Tried | |
| Northdown - Bitter Seas | 4.20 | Not Tried | |
