13:30 visit. first time in here since back to being the Black Griffin, was one of my usual haunts when in Canterbury when called the Hobgoblin then it was mainly for the atmosphere and the great juke box than the beer, I can remember many a night with mates shoving £s in the juke drinking JD & coke whilst listening to Iron Maiden, Metallica, Cradle Of Filth and Pantera. Now back to today:)

Peered in the window and hey, Gadd's No.7! Hell yeah. Another old time favourite pub is the Black Griffin. Thankfully it has its old name back. Couldn't really get on with the Hopgobblin. Quite busy inside but we got a half in and moved on.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 73.80ExcellentCan't remember too much about it other than it tasted of Yorkshire Pudding as it often does. Great beer.

I had a little over half an hour until I had to be at the train station so dropped in here for a pint. Only one other customer in reading the paper, I took my beer and sat in the garden and read my book.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Black Sheep - Best Bitter3.80ExcellentThis went down extremely well today. Perfectly executed bitter in my opinion.

Ah the Black Griffin. It's got the Gob Hoplin sign inside on the wall...like a trophy, ripped off the sign post by the claws of the Griffin itself.

Old Dairy (being contract brewed after it closed) - Gold Top4.30GoodWell I was hoping for the Sun Top but hey ho. Nice hoppy gold beer.

4th stop on our crawl of Canterbury and my first visit to this pub with it's new/old name. It's a gone a little upmarket in here, not sure if it's my cup of tea. Throw some sawdust on the floor and it'd be much better.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Hanlons (formerly O'Hanlon's) - Original Port Stout4.80ExcellentDelicious pint of this and easily our pint of the night. Rich and very satisfying.

Met up with Andrew here. I hadn't been in here in years and as Andrew said, it hasn't changed much, a couple of beers, some Stella and some students.

Here with Ian who was clearly half way through his own pub crawl. Pub was busy with a diverse clientèle.

The return of the Black Griffin. Canterbury just got better! Once a regular on my Canterbury pub crawls until it mysteriously became a Cobble-Goblin or something. Anyway, it's back to it's former glory.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Wantsum - 13813.80ExcellentInitially I thought they'd put the wrong barrel on and this was actually Golden Braid. However, there was a toasted peanut bite on the finish that gave it away that this was indeed a Wantsum beer.
