Wet and windy ride - needed a pub stop: Handsome Sam and Black Dog both closed, thank goodness for the TA. Good chat with ex CAMRA official Bob.
Kent - Tropic Ale | 4.90 | | Another customer praising this as I arrived. He wasn’t wrong, superb. |
Musket - Powder Burn | 5.00 | | Looked superb with a creamy head. |

Timothy Taylor - Knowle Spring | 4.20 | Not Tried
22 Sep 2019 (Jack William)
Sunday evening after watching a glorious sunset on Tankerton Slopes.
Nicely busy - one of the customers tinkling the ivory. Very pleasant.

22 Aug 2019 (Philip Pirrip)
Early evening visit. First visit to this much larger version after a move some time ago. The former intimate feel has gone.
Bexley - Redhouse | 4.20 | | Most enjoyable but it was the first of the day! |
Franklins - Kaleidohop IPA | 5.00 | Not Tried
Franklins - Eclipse | 4.00 | Not Tried
Bexley - Howbury 23 New Zealand Pale | 4.30 | Not Tried
07 Jul 2019 (Jack William)
Sunday around 5 - warm and sunny with the pavement area being used well. Up to a dozen people inside - but all in groups of 2 or 3 - the new premises with its much wider isle doesn’t facilitate conversations across groups as the old place did.
Adventurous ale menu - 3 of the 5 new to this site.
Hop Fuzz - Yellow Zinger | 3.70
Turnstone - Seven Seas | 5.60 | | Listed as a “strong pale” I assume it was unfiltered as it was opaque. Not really to my taste - rather “petroly” I thought. |
Potton - Holly Pup Mild | 3.80 | Not Tried
Leigh on Sea - Boys of England | 3.90 | Not Tried
Milestone - Colonial | 4.80 | Not Tried | Listed as “pale” - so not to be confused with their Colonial Stout. |
08 Nov 2018 (Jack William)
Late lunchtime. My first visit to the new, bigger premises. Has retained the style of a micro but too large now to qualify? Open all day now and a good trade by the number of customers today. One of our party had donated dozens of beer mats that adorn the back wall - well worth a look as they date back to the 1960s.
Wantsum - Grim Reaper | 5.50 | | Great taste - I went back for more. |
Goffs - Jouster Ale | 4.00 | | A good traditional bitter. |
Goffs - Fallen Knight | 4.40 | Not Tried
Canterbury Ales (sometimes badged as Canterbrew) - Red Simcoe | 4.80 | Not Tried
10 Mar 2018 (Andrew)
Busy but a nice chap let us sit at his table.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 7 | 3.80 | | A nice no 7 |

Rudgate - Jerusalem | 4.00 | Not Tried
Four Candles - Coffee and Hazelnut Porter | 4.40 | Not Tried
Turnstone - Cultch | 4.60 | Not Tried
09 Nov 2017 (Jack William)
Early afternoon- we phoned ahead and they stayed open for us - normal Lunchtime close is 14:30.
Old Dairy (being contract brewed after it closed) - Blue Top | 4.80 | | An excellent, well balanced IPA in sparking condition. |
Old Dairy (being contract brewed after it closed) - Red Top | 3.80 | | Rather flat - end of the barrel. |
Wantsum - Turbulent Priest | 4.40 | Not Tried
Hop Fuzz - Blacksmith | 4.20 | Not Tried
26 Nov 2016 (Jack William)
Mid evening - pleasantly busy.

Mad Cat - Educated Guess | 4.70 | Not Tried
