Early evening visit with the novelty of arriving on RML2270 (CUV270C) running on the local 706 bus service. We sat in the empty right hand bar in contrast to the busier main bar.

We arrived early evening on a Routemaster bus from Knockholt station. One bar was fairly full, but we had the other one to ourselves for about 90 minutes before returning on the 706 bus to Knockholt Railway Station.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Larkins - Best Bitter4.40Acceptable
Acorn - Lightness3.60AcceptableAdvertised as Acorn Lightness 9 gallon, I wondered whether somebody had written down exactly what it said on the cask label. A light hazy slightly sickly beer with a white head.

05 May 2011 (Martin the Mildman)
A pleasant evening spent here, arriving by open top bus. Efficient service and good food and beer.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Nelson - Midshipman Mild4.00ExcellentGood chocolate and coffee malt flavours in this with a sweetish character. Drier finish. My score 16/20.
Tonbridge - Ebony Moon4.20GoodShown as 4.2% on pumpclip. A fairly hoppy and bitter porter with some malt character. Dryish and bitter finish. My score 15/20.
Nelson - Dover Patrol4.40AcceptableSomewhat reduced in strength, now at 4.4%. Dark brown and quite bitter for a mild, with the bitterenss coming from dark roast malts. The finish is fruity and a little sharp. My score 14/20.

Popped along for the local CAMRA runner-up Pub of the Year presentation, and also to show support for licencee Bob who has been told to leave by the end of the month. The locals have a petition by the dart-board, lots of names up already, please show your support !

Said goodbye to a colleague with a boys' lunch trip to the Rose & Crown for some fresh Grimsby haddock. My plebeian chums drank Budweiser, Fosters and Kronenbourg respectively. At least one of us opted for the good stuff.
BeerABVScoreNotes
