I almost turned round and left because there was a big sign in the door saying Closed, but fortunately they had just forgotten to turn it round when they opened. Sandwiches are good value at £2.50 so I had a BLT to accompany my pint. Camra discount on ales here, they also accept Wetherspoon vouchers.

Like the place in general good ale and seems to have settled in acquiring a solid stream of regulars along with a turn over of ale enthusiasts. I still find the location to be to its detriment if you are drinking in Maidstone you pretty much have to go out of your way to get here.

First ones in at lunchtime so we had plenty of opportunity to chat about beers (and cider). A few more drifted in later.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Dark Star - Hophead (some has also been brewed by Fuller's)3.80ExcellentTasted far better than several I have had recently. Is it because it is well kept?
Bristol Beer Factory - Milk Stout4.50ExcellentIn excellent condition.
Brighton Bier - Dealer's Choice IPA4.50ExcellentA very hoppy beer. Nice.

Evening on 2nd day of opening. Very busy indeed with quite a few self-confessed ale and cider virgins. There will be arguments about if a Micropub can have such a large floor space. Very friendly and enthusiastic owners working flat out tonight. One criticism: needs some soft furnishings and / or sound absorbers on the walls as I found the noise of raised human voices painfully ear shattering at times.

The pub is found in Maidstone, Kent, ME16 0DZ.

A new family run alehouse (set up to follow the style of a Micropub) which opened on Friday 18th December 2015 in the cellars of the old Style & Winch Brewery in Buckland Road. Entrance is down steps from the old brewery yard and the pub occupies a large stone floored, low-arched ceilinged cellar. Seating is on benches with high wooden tables. The bar counter is in the far corner and behind it is a glazed door leading to a temperature controlled cellar room where cask ales and ciders / perries are served on gravity dispense. Changed hands in May 2019.

We have visited this pub 16 times, seen 61 different beers and tried 30 of them.
