Central London has been a ghost town today and I stop off here on the way home from work thinking that Stratford shops must be where everyone is hiding. But it is unusually quiet here too.
BeerABVScoreNotes

Mid-evening visit after a day out in Maidstone. There has been football at the Olympic Stadium, meaning that it is plastic cups and bouncers on the door here.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Tap East - Tonic Ale3.00ExcellentEnjoyable, light, hoppy pint.
Tiny Rebel - Chocolate Stay Puft5.20AcceptablePlenty of chocolate, but way, way too sweet for my taste buds.

Early to mid-evening. Peak Christmas shopping season and it is busy in here throughout.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Brew York - Fairytale of Brew York4.70ExcellentBlack, sweet. Chocolaty and nutty (of the pistachio variety). Very nice. This brewery seemingly can do no wrong.
Wiper and True - Peel & Stone6.20ExcellentFrom a keg of some kind and initially a bit too chilled. This is a strong and mellow, golden IPA.
Track - Mosaic Eater4.40ExcellentParadise for Mosaic hops fans such as myself.

BeerABVScoreNotes
Bristol Beer Factory - Southville Hop6.50ExcellentA good, crisp, strongish, citrusy IPA.
Harbour - Kernowfornia4.80ExcellentA ‘California Common’ – not a beer style with which I have much familiarity. Pleasingly light and smooth and hoppy.
Ilkley - Mary Christmas4.70AcceptableA dark Bitter; quite heavily-spiced. I thought I was tasting cloves and nutmeg. Not much to my liking to be honest.

Unusually busy here for a Monday evening. I think it may have been fulfilling its ‘man crèche’ role during peak Christmas shopping season.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Alechemy - Charisma3.70ExcellentAnother tasty, pale beer.
Redwell - Extra Pale Ale4.60ExcellentLight of colour but full of flavour. Good to see Redwell in cask.

Late evening and busy as expected. Usual clinical operating theatre, mortuary or dentist surgery atmosphere. Take your pick.

Quite late in the evening. Pleased to find some of the pub’s anniversary specials still available, having missed the birthday party whilst on holiday.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Tap East - Brewery Birthday 60 Shilling Scotch Ale3.00AcceptableDark brown with a creamy head. A lightweight Scottish-style Mild. Authentically inoffensive.
Tap East - Wit4.50AcceptableFrom a keg of some sort. Hazy, pale, cold and fizzy. An unspectacular Witbier.
Tap East - Gingerbread Stout5.50AcceptableFrom key-keg. A somewhat flat pint with no head. Black. Lots of ginger flavour but a bit lacking in Ooomph – not sure if that was just an effect of the lack of condition.

A quick visit on the way home.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Salopian - Mixed Metaphor4.50ExcellentA heavy duty black beer with a brown head. Very well-hopped. Somewhere between a Black IPA and a Stout I think.

Early evening for a couple after a spot of shopping.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Beavertown - Phantom Earl4.80ExceptionalFrom key-keg. A cloudy, golden beer in the Berliner Weiss style. Flavoured with lemon and Earl Grey tea. Bergamot. Fantastic.
Northern Monk - Bombay Dazzler4.80ExcellentFrom key-keg. A cloudy, golden colour. Described as an ‘Indian Witbier’. Low hop rates but lots of spice and botanicals. A seriously good beer in my opinion.
Weltons - Equal Night V2 Black IPA4.20GoodA dark brown beer with good hop levels – Apollo and Calypso according to the pumpclip.
Tap East - Phoenix Red4.00Not Tried
Tap East - Smokestack Porter6.00Not Tried

Still quite busy with after-workers at 8pm. Standing room only in fact.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Ilkley - Green Rose4.40GoodA very different beer from Ilkley’s ‘The Green Rose’ brewed a few years ago. This one is golden and dry.
Tap East - Phoenix Red4.00AcceptableThe first brew of this beer for a few years. It has been at 4.0%, 5.2% and this time has come out at 5.0%. I found it too sweet.
