Dark Star - Oktoberfest5.20ExcellentSuperbly hoppy strong golden ale. Very well balanced as well, with a lasting citrus hop finish. My score 17/20.

I met up with an ex colleague to do a mooch around the market and try different things and buy the odd bit of pasta or cheese or meat or jam. Then we came here for a few drinks.
BeerABVScoreNotes
BrewDog - Bashah8.60GoodCo-brewed with Stone of California. Black, no head. Imp stout intense tar aroma. Some gingerish alcohol heat on finish. Good dark syrup flavour. oily texture. I like it. Like dark choc covered biscuits with hint of ginger. Decent.
BrewDog - Nanny State1.10PoorI didn't mind it as much this time round, but the look on Anne's face as she swallowed the first mouthfull was a complete picture!!!! Screwed up horror.
Leeds - Leeds Pale3.80Not TriedVery popular with everyone else in the pub.

Now sports a third handpump on the bar.
BeerABVScoreNotes
BrewDog - Nanny State1.10AcceptableRed/brown in colour. Huge hop aroma, one dimensional hop taste which drowns out any other flavours. Very bitter finish. Not my sort of beer ! My score 14/20.

Pretty quiet early evening truth be told. Came mainly for the Brew Dog, but there were a couple of Moonlight beers on tap too.
BeerABVScoreNotes
BrewDog - Nanny State1.10PoorMassive hop on aroma which is pleasant, but then in mouth it's like drinking hop tea. I got half way through a pint and then had to stop.

BrewDog - 5AM Saint5.00AcceptableWay too bitter and hoppy for my taste. Very leafy and grassy hop taste with an incredible bitter finsh that stayed with me on the 40 minute hourney home! Well brewed, so my score 12/20.

The Brew Dog Tokyo* was still on tap, the country's strongest beer at 18.6% ABV. I then had the 77 Lager and Punk IPA both on tap and both fantastic.

Busy as ever post-work. Stood outside on the road gawping at the immense hoppiness of my beer.
BeerABVScoreNotes
BrewDog - How To Disappear Completely3.50ExcellentDeep copper, aromatic, some sediment, hugely bitter, moisture sappingly so. Just makes u want to drink more! Despite it's extremeness it's still a very enjoyable beer some orange notes creeping through the hops then getting lost in a sea of bitterness. Much better from cask than bottle.

Sierra Nevada - Stout5.80ExcellentStout with bite, lots of citrus hop in this but also smooth mouthfeel with plenty of roast malt too. Served on handpump at an eye-watering £4.50/pint. My score 16/20.

Tom (MagicDave6) from Ratebeer is now the deputy bar manager here so look for some improvements including the cask condition beer being in better nick. Also meeting up with HogTownHarry from Toronto as well. Met Roger Protz who was with Des who organised Beer Exposed and Melissa Cole who were all there for a Sharps brewery tasting upstairs. Good evening with lots of people who I knew there.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Harviestoun - Schiehallion4.80GoodI very much like this beer, very good condition in mouth, very biting hops on finish. For a cask conditioned lager, it's fantastic.
Sharp's - Atlantic IPA (now replaced by 4.2% Atlantic)4.80Not Tried

Stop 2. Second time I've been here and I really like it, threatening to take over The Harp as my favourite London pub. Managed to get a seat on the patio with a couple of South African women. Could have easily stayed here all day.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Wentworth - Early Fruits4.10AcceptableAs you'd expect from the name this is a very fruity bitter. Nothing exceptional but certainly not bad. May have suffered from the fact my friends were drinking Anchor Porter and Ruination IPA.
Kelham Island (probably brewed by Thornbridge now) - Easy Rider4.30Not Tried

The pub is found in Southwark, Central London, SE1 9AG.

Small pub on the north side of Borough Market run by the same people who own the Utobeer bottled beer stall in the market itself. The bar has 3 hand pulls serving UK cask beers and 6 taps supplying continental and world beers. An extensive bottle beer selection is also available from the fridges behind the bar. The bar has stripped wood floors, pale beige walls and a historic Pilkington glass ceiling. A decked patio provides extra space and seating. Definitely an excellent addition to the Southwark beer scene.

We have visited this pub 151 times, seen 348 different beers and tried 249 of them.
